Reasonable Doubt Season 3 Episode 9 recap: Ozzie questions his own innocence

Reasonable Doubt Season 3 Episode 9, titled “D’Evils,” focuses on Jax Stewart from the very start of the episode. Jax, the defense attorney who has spent the entire season struggling between moral dilemma and professional work, lies in her bed wide awake.

Her thoughts are centered on Rosie’s last conversation with her. The defense attorney’s confidence in Ozzie’s innocence is under doubt, and even Lewis’s concern cannot break her conflicted mental state. However, Lewis tries to comfort her.

Reasonable Doubt Season 3 Episode 9 captures the growing unrest in Jax's mind on the death mystery of Wendy.

This sense of discomfort does not leave Jax even at work when Bill gets too candid with Stephen and Vince. Jax, however, does not pay much heed but chooses to focus on Ozzie’s case. Bill dismisses Jax’s proposal to put Ozzie on the stand to get the truth out.

Reasonable Doubt Season 3 Episode 9 shifts between characters, putting focus on Jax, Daniel, Ozzie, and many more integral characters of the season.

After focusing on Jax's growing unrest, it then takes us back to 2015 through Ozzie, whose dog once fell sick by eating chocolate but the doctor emphasized that the dog would not have been able to eat a hefty portion of chocolate on his own. Daniel, on the other hand, is also bothered by the silence coming from Kristin.

Jax and Bill pay a visit to Ozzie so that he can be brought to the stand, yet, Ozzie was reluctant. Ozzie begins to panic and he admits to something strange: he has recurring nightmares that make him doubt his own innocence. Jax is steadfast in her duty and reminds him to stay calm.

Jax appears ever determined to make sure Ozzie appears at the stand. Even Bill could not make her flinch. Ozzie, although prepared to take the stand, is overwhelmed by Bill's aggressive tactics, making him ask for a break. Jax again delivers a dose of assurance to the now afraid Ozzie.

Reasonable Doubt Season 3 Episode 9 focuses on Ozzie’s internal repercussions. Ozzie’s mind wanders off to the time when Monica approached him but she was turned back by him. But a production assistant entered his trailer while he was involved in sexual activity, and Ozzie tossed a trophy, targeting him. With Rosie’s help that day, the situation did not blow out of proportion.

Back at Lewis’s office, his employee Sam handles a missed deadline by mentioning his pregnant girlfriend. Jax works on the case at night while she vents about Bill and her concerns about Ozzie. Lending a different perspective, Lewis also discusses the matter with her.

Ozzie’s longtimetherapist discloses a bitter truth to him: that his parents hid his conduct disorder diagnosis and medicated him for years. Ozzie reaffirms his self-doubt and mentions he does not remember much of the fateful night’s incidents.

In Reasonable Doubt Season 3 Episode 9, the therapist testified in court that Oziie has the disorder but he is not violent. Jax, formerly in great doubt, now finds confidence in the therapist's words. With Kyrstal's support with her, she shifts her focus to Ozzie’s incapability rather than his personality, though Bill objects.

Bill comes clean and mentions he needs the win to secure partnership and that he was influenced by Stephen and Vince but turns his loyalty towards Jax at last. The events outside court of Reasonable Doubt Season 3 were equally engaging.

In this Reasonable Doubt Season 3 episode, Chelsea warns Lewis that Eddie will try to harm Jax again, while Daniel finds a letter where Kristen mentions an apology for her disappearance. Inside court, finally, Ozzie is seen at the stand, recalling how Rosie once doubted him despite claiming otherwise.

In Reasonable Doubt Season 3 Episode 9,Ozzie explained two things here: firstly, that the gun (that was kept in his cabin) was purchased several years ago and not recently. Secondly, he mentioned that even though he was high the night of the killing, he is not responsible for Wendy’s death. Mike’s cross-examination collapses when Ozzie says he didn’t know the route to the cabin and was too out of it to reach it.

When the courtroom drama ends, Bill faces Stephen and Vince. Jax, who knows them very well, refuses to give them a chance at closing the argument. In the concluding scenes of Reasonable Doubt Season 3 Episode 9, both parties deliver their closing statements before the jury begins deliberation.

Meanwhile, Rosie also stumbles upon a letter from Ozzie to his dog and realizes that Ozzie did not have malice in his heart. Meanwhile, Kristin is located at a cabin, where she breaks down and confesses to killing the dog because Ozzie was their parents’ favorite. The episode ends, bringing us back to the key question. Daniel asks Kristin if she killed Wendy?
