Thought HBO was slowing down? think again because the network just went full Oprah: you get a renewal, you get a renewal, everybody gets a renewal! During a press event in New York City, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and Max, rolled out four big renewal announcements.

Two comedies (The Chair Company and I Love LA) are coming back for second seasons. And if dragons are more your vibe, the network is expanding its empire as it renews A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon. New seasons have been locked in for every year through 2028.

So if you have plans between now and 2028, just cancel them! Let’s break down the four shows that have been blessed with more screen time.

These four shows get new seasons from HBO

1) The Chair Company

Some comedies start slow, but this one sure did not!

The Chair Company has been developed by Tim Robinson/Zach Kanin and is now HBO’s top freshman comedy in history. It averaged 3.3 million cross-platform viewers in its first season (L+3). Critics worshipped it. With a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s been called everything from “absurdly funny” (The New York Times) to “the funniest show of the year” (TV Guide).

Season one starred Robinson as a man starting to believe all sorts of conspiracy theories after a workplace mishap. Lake Bell, Sophia Lillis, Will Price, Joseph Tudisco, and Lou Diamond Phillips rounded out the cast.

And now, Amy Gravitt (EVP of HBO Programming) said HBO couldn’t be happier to continue working with Robinson, Kanin, and company.

2) I Love LA

Next up: I Love LA. This show has been created and led by Rachel Sennott, who has become Hollywood’s (and our) agent of style and chaos.

With nearly 2 million cross-platform viewers on average, I Love LA is now the network's second-biggest freshman comedy. It also earned a certified fresh Rotten Tomatoes badge, so that's there too.

Season one followed a friend group who had to deal with the fallout and upheavals of relationships, ambition, and L.A. in general. The show features guest stars like Ayo Edebiri, Elijah Wood, Leighton Meester, and Josh Hutcherson. Sennott will return behind and in front of the camera in Season 2.

3) A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

This one's bold, even for HBO, we believe.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is the new Game of Thrones spin-off. And it has been renewed for Season 2 before Season 1 even airs! The first season debuts January 18, 2026, and Season 2 is slated to debut in 2027.

Adapted from George R.R. Martin’s beloved Dunk and Egg novellas, the show stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan (Dunk) and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg. Audiences will likely meet an “underdog duo,” at least at first.

4) House of the Dragon

And finally, the fire-breathing crown jewel.

House of the Dragon Season 3 is already in production and will be coming in 2026. Now it has been renewed for Season 4, which will, in turn, premiere in 2028.

With claims of some of the franchise’s “most epic battles yet,” it expects fans to be screaming and arguing online for years to come! George R.R. Martin stays involved because what’s Westeros without him, anyway?

All four renewed series stream on Max and air on HBO.
