With the news circulating that All My Children just narrowly escaped cancellation comes word that the show is ready to install a new executive producer. Former Passions and Night Shift exec Lisa de Cozette is in and out is five-year EP Julie Hanan Carruthers.

It appears that the just-more-than-five-year reign of executive producer Julie Hanan Carruthers is coming to an end. There have been rumors that behind-the-scenes changes at All My Children were imminent for some time. With a new head writer already in place and, arguably, making significant strides in restoring good storytelling, the only other top position that could be shaken up is that of executive producer. The changes comes amid reports that All My Children was nearly canceled.

The first step in making the transition is the return of Lisa de Cazotte to All My Children's production team. In 1994, then Lisa Hesser served as a coordinating producer for the ABC soap. There is heavy intimation that once de Cazotte gets reacquainted with life in Pine Valley, she will eventually replace Carruthers in the EP spot.

A long-time daytime veteran, de Cazotte has made quite a name for herself since last go-around with All My Children. She served as executive producer for the now-cancelled NBC soap, Passions for eight years. After leaving Passions, de Cozette worked as the executive producer for the second season of SOAPnet's primetime soap, General Hospital: Night Shift. Her past daytime work also included stops as a producer on Santa Barbara and as an Emmy-nominated member of One Life to Live's directing team in 1988.

Julie Hanan Carruthers was appointed to the executive producer position in 2003 after the cancellation of Port Charles, another ABC soap.

"Julie is an incredibly strong, talented and innovative executive producer," said ABC Daytime President Brian Frons in a statement at the time. "Her passion and spirit will be a perfect fit for the ground-breaking hallmark that is All My Children."

Ironically, the woman Carruthers replaced, Jean Dadario Burke, had also been in the executive producer position for five years.
