Daniel Cosgrove's first AMC airdate set

Daniel Cosgrove's Pine Valley homecoming is set for late December. The two-time Emmy winner will reprise the role of Scott Chandler, a role he first played in 1996. Cosgrove has also appeared on Guiding Light and As the World Turns.

An All My Children spokesperson has now confirmed that Daniel Cosgrove (Scott Chandler) will make his return to All My Children before the end of the year.

Cosgrove, a two-time Daytime Emmy nominee, first appeared on All My Children in 1996. Two years later, the actor left Pine Valley for a more prestigious zip code -- 90210. Cosgrove's stint on the FOX primetime soap, Beverly Hills, 90210, also lasted two years.

From there, Cosgrove took a trip through two daytime drama series, the now-cancelled Guiding Light and As the World Turns. On Guiding Light, Cosgrove earned two Daytime Emmy nominations for his work as Bill Lewis.

When Scott does return to the canvas -- it won't be in Pine Valley. Scott will still be serving time in Statesville for stealing Palmer Cortlandt's nanotechnology project.

Co-head writer David Kreizman told Soap Opera Digest that the show had not planned to recast Scott after actor Adam Mayfield was let go earlier this year. However, when Cosgrove became available after the cancellation of As the World Turns, the show decided that since Cosgrove had played Scott before "we just thought it was a great fit."

Cosgrove first reported to work on November 16. Those scenes will air on December 27.
