Demon Slayer characters are packed with a wide range of powerful breaths, each thrown into gripping, high-stakes showdowns that leave a lasting mark on the story. But here’s the thing — not all of them get the spotlight they deserve. While some Demon Slayer characters enjoy epic battles that fully display their abilities, others are left with confrontations that fail to do justice to their true potential.
They trained, bled, and had powers that could melt demons into mush, yet they barely got any spotlight. No major battles. No big wins. Just side roles or team fights that didn’t do justice to these characters.
1. The Underutilized Flame: Kyojuro Rengoku

Despite his memorable stand against Upper Moon Three Akaza, Flame Hashira Rengoku never got to demonstrate his full capabilities before his untimely demise. His battle, while emotionally powerful, came too soon in his character arc.
Rengoku's mastery of Fire Breathing techniques was only partially revealed during the Mugen Train arc. Many Demon Slayer characters develop through multiple challenging encounters, but Rengoku was denied this opportunity. Fans can only imagine how the Flame Hashira might have evolved and perhaps even unleash a Marked state like his fellow Hashira.
2. The Silent Demon Slayer Characters: Kanao Tsuyuri

Kanao's phenomenal talents stayed mostly in the background throughout the series. Despite being a final selection survivor and Shinobu's protege, her character never received a solo battle worthy of her potential.
While she assisted in the fight against Doma, Kanao's unique Flower Breathing style and her special ability to enhance her physical limits deserved a more dedicated showcase. Her incredible precision and reflexes with her tactical mind should have earned her a more substantial battle moment among the Demon Slayer characters. Instead, viewers only glimpsed flashes of her capabilities.
3. The Untested Prodigy: Genya Shinazugawa

Genya Shinazugawa stood out among the Demon Slayer characters due to his inability to use traditional Breathing Techniques. Instead, he possessed a rare ability to consume demon flesh, temporarily gaining their powers. This unique trait set him apart, offering a fresh perspective on combating demons.
Despite this intriguing ability, Genya's battles were often overshadowed by other characters. While he supported Tokito against Kokushibo, viewers never saw what Genya could accomplish on his own terms. His potential for strategic combat and personal growth remained underutilized.
4. The Thunder Legacy: Zenitsu Agatsuma

Zenitsu showed major growth across the story, but none of his battles truly let him unleash everything he had. As one of the standout Demon Slayer characters, he honed his single Thunder Breathing technique to a level no one else reached. Still, most of his standout moments came when he was unconscious or during quick flashes of awareness, leaving his real strength in the shadows.
Zenitsu’s incredible speed and skill with his Godspeed attack needed a proper battle to shine. He should have had a fight where he stayed awake and used his strength with clear focus. While his fight against Upper Moon Six Kaigaku showed glimpses of his growth, it ended too quickly. As one of the main trio, Zenitsu deserved at least one extended confrontation.
5. The Enigmatic Prodigy: Muichiro Tokito

The Mist Hashira achieved his rank at just fourteen years old, marking him as perhaps the most naturally talented among Demon Slayer characters. Yet his primary battle against Upper Moon Five Gyokko, while impressive, ended too quickly to showcase his extraordinary potential.
After unlocking his Mark, Muichiro dispatched Gyokko with unexpected ease. His brief confrontation with Kokushibo hinted at incredible untapped potential, which was cut short by his death. As the youngest Hashira with perhaps the most natural talent, Muichiro deserved a more extended battle sequence.
6. The Shadow Warrior: Obanai Iguro

With a fighting technique unlike any other and razor-sharp accuracy, the Serpent Hashira should have had a standout battle that focused entirely on him. While this Demon Slayer character partook in the final battle against Muzan, viewers never saw Obanai in a reliable one-on-one brawl that fully displayed his exceptional skills.
Iguro's Serpent Breathing and special coordination with his snake Kaburamaru pointed to a fighting style unlike any other Hashira. His ability to conduct precise strikes at vital points while steering via complex terrain alluded to capabilities that remained largely unexplored. Despite being one of the most technically skilled swordsmen in the Corps, Obanai never received a battle sequence that put him among the Hashira.
7. The Untapped Potential: Giyu Tomioka

While the Water Hashira participated in several battles, no confrontation fully showcased his exceptional skills. One of the stoic Demon Slayer characters, Giyu, deserved a decisive battle that would have stressed why he was viewed among the most capable Hashira.
Giyu's mastery of Water Breathing, including his impressive eleventh form, implied depths to his abilities that were never fully examined. His assistance in team battles was noteworthy but usually overshadowed by others. A dedicated solo encounter against a worthy opponent would have better displayed his unparalleled precision, adaptability, and technical mastery.
8. The Giant Deserves a Grand Duel: Gyomei Himejima

Gyomei Himejima, known as the Stone Hashira, is often viewed as the most powerful swordsman among his generation of Demon Slayers. His huge size, strength, and mastery of Stone Breathing made him a force to be reckoned with. Yet, despite this buildup, most of his battles were rushed or shown alongside other characters, cutting the impact of his abilities.
He battled valiantly in the final arc, but his solo prowess remained underexplored. A one-on-one battle showcasing his brute potency and tactical mind could have placed him among the most legendary Demon Slayer characters. For someone dubbed the strongest, he earned a moment that made his power unmistakable.
As such, not all Demon Slayer characters received the justice they earned in terms of battle illustration. Whether due to rushed arcs, narrative focus, or little screen time, their strength stayed confined behind potential. More spotlight on these characters would have added depth and drama to the series. Let’s hope future spin-offs or prequels revisit these missed chances.
