Blue Lock: Episode Nagi, the beloved side story following the Lazy Genius Seishiro Nagi, officially ended on July 9, 2025, with its 36th chapter. The manga ran for just over three years, having started its serialization in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in June 2022. Volume 8, which will be the final collection of chapters, will be released in Japan on August 12, 2025.
Based on the point at which Blue Lock: Episode Nagi ended, a sequel does not seem necessary at the moment. At the same time, considering how Nagi’s story unfolds in the parent manga, there may still be content worth exploring about his life.
Blue Lock: Episode Nagi follows Nagi and Reo’s challenges and growth throughout Blue Lock, starting right from their initial meeting and friendship at school, and continuing through their separation and development within the project. While Reo does get his fair share of screen time and focus, the spotlight ultimately falls on Nagi.

The spin-off highlights the prodigy's struggle to manifest his egoism while foreshadowing his elimination from the Neo Egoist League. At the same time, it hints at the passion he displays within Blue Lock, gradually aligning with the events in the recent chapters of the main manga, where Nagi gets fired up again and decides to re-enter the world of football.
The last installment of Episode Nagi takes place in the Third Selection Arc, where the participants were divided along with the top six players in Blue Lock to select the lineup for the U-20 Match. While the chapter does not detail the events of the arc, it showcases Nagi’s desire to grow stronger and defeat Isagi.
Why Blue Lock: Episode Nagi does not need a sequel currently
Blue Lock: Episode Nagi does not presently need a sequel, as it was cleverly released in a way that remains consistent with Nagi’s development in the main Blue Lock manga. Until now, the only parts of Nagi’s life that fans were unfamiliar with were his friendship with Reo and the challenges he faced before the U-20 match.
These stories were the primary focus of Episode Nagi. Following this, the match against Japan’s national team and the Neo Egoist League gave equal attention to all characters, leaving little room for individual spin-off content.
While fans feared that Nagi’s elimination from the Neo Egoist League may end up removing him from the plot, the player has continued appearing in most chapters, as the creators focus on his journey to rediscover his purpose and excitement for football.
Blue Lock chapter 310, in particular, showed Nagi finally gaining the fire in his eyes yet again, as he seemed to obtain clarity about his future steps. As a result, there is very little content left to cover about Nagi’s life at this point that would signify the need for a sequel manga.
He remains a significant figure in the main narrative, and there are no aspects of his past or present that warrant another story.

What a Blue Lock: Episode Nagi sequel may comprise of (speculative)
While an Episode Nagi sequel may not be needed at this moment, there is no guarantee that it won't happen in the future. This is mainly because the author, Muneyuki Kaneshiro, has expressed his fondness for Nagi on several occasions.
Additionally, Nagi is a fan-favorite character whose popularity can be compared to Isagi himself. Since a spin-off sequel would attract a guaranteed readership, there always remains the chance of it happening. Should an Episode Nagi sequel occur, it will most likely show future events rather than revisiting the past.
As the remaining players of Project Blue Lock will be taking part in the U-20 World Cup soon, Nagi’s appearances may be reduced in the main story. Nagi’s life during this period could be explored through an Episode Nagi sequel.
If the Lazy Genius ultimately decides to take part in Buratsuta’s special selection test, a spin-off could also provide insight into the specifics of the JFU chairman’s program and his underlying schemes.
Therefore, while there is no immediate requirement for a sequel to the Nagi spin-off, there is always the possibility of it happening in the future based on the direction the creators choose to take with his character.
