Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has introduced many exciting and dangerous moments since the time skip. While many fans focus on Boruto, Kawaki, or even Code, Inojin Yamanaka’s role is often overlooked. Inojin might not stand out in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, but his importance cannot be ignored.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex shows us how much Inojin has grown. From the start, he has always worked hard as a shinobi. He trained with his Shikadai and Chocho to become the new Ino-Shika-Cho. Inojin might not be the heaviest hitter in the series, but his Yamanaka clan mind techniques and Super Beast Imitating Drawing make him a useful asset to have in any team.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex highlights Inojin’s bravery during the attack on Konoha by Code and his Claw Grimes. Inojin fought hard alongside his team and Himawari to protect the village. Even when Code’s monsters attacked from all sides, Inojin did not back down. He risked his life to save Himawari when her balance was thrown off in the air. Without thinking twice, Inojin caught her while his ink bird was attacked, showing his selflessness.

Later, when Jura and Hidari invaded Konoha, Inojin again stood by Himawari. Jura, a Human God Tree, after mistaking Himawari for Naruto due to Kurama’s chakra inside her, attacked. Inojin and the rest of Team 10 did their best to defend her. Their combined work was enough to stop even Jura’s Tailed Beast Ball, showing how much they have improved. Although they were outclassed, Inojin and his friends didn't leave Himawari behind.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex takes a dark turn when Jura finally catches up to the team. Inojin once again shows his courage by trying to save Himawari. Sadly, this leads to him being impaled by Jura’s Wood Release. Seeing Inojin fall like this was shocking, and for a moment, it seemed like he might have died because his injury looked severe. The whole situation conjured up memories for many in the fan base of how some characters have shockingly been killed off (like Neji).

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex uses this moment to show how powerful Himawari has become. Seeing Inojin nearly die triggered her hidden power as the new Jinchuriki of Kurama. She managed to heal Inojin with her new abilities. While it was through Himawari’s power that he was saved, that doesn’t diminish Inojin’s bravery. He put himself on the line to save her.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex makes me think about how important Inojin really is. Many fans may see him as a side character, but his actions show otherwise. Inojin carries the Will of Fire. He is brave and was ready to put others before himself.

Death and Power-ups in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex also brings up an important issue about death in the series. Some people feel that Inojin’s survival after such a serious injury shows how the story avoids killing off main characters. I understand this view, and both Naruto and Boruto indeed have a history of sparing many characters from death.

Still, Inojin’s survival serves a purpose. His near-death experience caused Himawari to awaken her powers. Without Inojin’s sacrifice, Himawari might not have discovered her new power. But then that brings the question of must people always almost die before new abilities are unlocked? And the simple answer is no.

But from experience, the nine-tails becomes more pronounced and powerful when the host is overwhelmed with emotions. There are other abilities, too, that are like that. Eida using her Omnipotence for the sake of Kawaki was because she was overwhelmed by emotions. The Sharingan of Sarada Uchiha was unlocked when she felt despair towards Boruto.

Conclusion

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex may not give Inojin as much attention as it gives Boruto, Kawaki, or Himawari, but his role is still very important. He has fought bravely, stayed loyal to his friends, and helped Himawari unlock Kurama’s power without knowing it. Inojin is not the strongest or most famous, but he is still very important.
