Ever since the first part of the Boruto anime went on hiatus in March 2023, fans have been eagerly awaiting news about a sequel. Although numerous speculations and theories have been proposed regarding the continuation of the series, tangible evidence has been scarce until now.
However, Nostalgia Con 2025 has sent the fandom into a frenzy through a major revelation about the Boruto anime. In a conversation between Junko Takeuchi and Maile Flanagan, the Japanese and English voice actors for Naruto Uzumaki, Takeuchi confirmed that she had already recorded parts of her role for the sequel.
Flanagan shared that she had yet to get started, to which Takeuchi remarked that she was in for a lot of work. Therefore, Junko Takeuchi has seemingly confirmed that the Boruto sequel is not just in the works, but is close to completing its production.

Why fans should be excited for Boruto Part 2
The first part of the Boruto anime is a highly controversial adaptation that gets mixed reactions from the entire fanbase. Although the show features some excellent episodes with stunning animation and memorable character development, it also reportedly includes equally mediocre installments with forgettable anime-original storylines and lackluster visuals.
However, Studio Pierrot has seemingly taken the criticism to heart, having gone on an extended hiatus to prepare for the anime sequel. The group has followed a similar pattern before, where they went on an extended break after the Bleach anime, only to return with the beloved Thousand-Year Blood War.
Fans are hoping for the same treatment to be given to Boruto, especially since the coming story arcs are incredibly well-written and raise the stakes to a whole other level. Part 2 will begin by showcasing the Omnipotence Incident, where Eida swaps Kawaki and Boruto’s positions and brands the protagonist as the killer of his own father.
Soon after this, a timeskip will occur, during which Code will create dangerous entities known as Claw Grimes and inadvertently give birth to the most formidable antagonists in the Naruto universe, the Human God Trees. As a result, the main cast will have their work cut out for them, as they confront both internal and external enemies.
The anime sequel will feature thrilling progression as well as inspiring character development for the protagonist. It will introduce creative new power systems while showcasing the ever-evolving dynamics between characters.

To do justice to the storyline, there is good reason to believe that Studio Pierrot may be planning to shift to the seasonal format, especially since there is not enough source material for them to return to their original long-running release schedule. As a result, should the studio’s production team deliver, fans may be in for a spectacle unlike any other.
Additionally, most Japanese anime have actors do their voice recording sessions only after the animation is completed. Since Junko Takeuchi has revealed that she has already begun recording her lines, further news about the sequel’s release date may be revealed soon.
