Dandadan Season 2 Episode 1 recap

Dandadan Season 2 Episode 1 continues the story from where the previous season left off, as Momo is attacked by creepy men from the Kito Family at the hot springs. Unable to use her powers properly, she was struggling to escape until Turbo Granny saved her by destroying the entire building.

The scene then shifted to Jiji and Okarun, who were still investigating the mysterious hole in the wall of the house. However, they were soon interrupted by other members of the Kito Family, led by their leader, Naki, who was the landlord of Jiji’s house.

The group then began questioning Jiji about his absence in the past few days, though the boy tried explaining that he had gone to visit his friend Okarun. Just then, the remaining members of the family, including the Gators and a police officer, entered the house. Jiji and Okarun continued to be pressured as their connection was repeatedly questioned.

Unfortunately, after Naki questioned Jiji about Momo, the boy denied any link to her and was caught in his lie. Meanwhile, Momo and Turbo Granny visited the Tsuchinoko Shrine, which was being looked after by a boy named Manjiro. Though hoping to see the great snake, all that was present inside the shrine was a tiny piece of snakeskin.

Manjiro explained the bloody history of the Tsuchinoko, which was believed to cause a volcano to erupt whenever it was hungry. To prevent incurring its wrath, children were sacrificed in the past. The shrine existed to ensure that people never fell prey to the fear of its legend and resorted to killing kids again.

After hearing this story, Momo returned home, only to find Okarun and Jiji being beaten by the Kito Family. She immediately jumped into action, fighting off the villains and engaging in an intense battle against Naki. During their confrontation, Momo was pushed into the hole in the wall.

While her surroundings turned into quicksand and she was trapped there, Naki revealed that the Kito Family had been continuing the tradition of sacrificing people to the Tsuchinoko, and that the house was their altar. She then chose the main trio to be the next offerings.

However, in a desperate act of resistance, as Jiji and Okarun were trying to save Momo, they ended up pushing themselves and the Kito Family into the hole. Everyone was sucked into the quicksand and emerged on the other side, in a mysterious location with various abandoned houses.

Terror soon set in when they discovered that it was the domain of the Tsuchinoko, a Mongolian Death Worm that still existed. Elated, the Kito Family began a ritual to prepare their offerings, but ended up being eaten by the Tsuchinoko first. Panicked, Momo, Okarun, and Jiji ran into one of the nearby houses.

The episode ends with Momo and Okarun collapsing to the ground after being struck by the Tsuchinoko’s psychic waves. Jiji remains unaffected but is suddenly pounced on by Okarun.
