Gachiakuta: Who killed Rudo's father?

Gachiakuta is one of the most beloved manga currently being serialized and has an anime adaptation scheduled for release in the summer 2025 season. Right from its first chapter, Gachiakuta instantly hooked fans through its fascinating world and memorable characters. One particular event stood out — the death of Rudo’s foster father, Regto.

This shocking twist, delivered right at the beginning, immersed readers even further and shaped the protagonist’s future actions. Those who are not caught up with the manga may wonder whether the series has revealed who was responsible for the gruesome murder. Rudo’s father, Regto, was killed by Tamsy Caines in Gachiakuta.

Although he only appeared in one chapter, Regto’s relationship with Rudo quickly won over readers’ hearts. While Rudo had no social etiquette and was discriminated against, his foster father, Regto, acted as a guiding hand, helping him live an ordinary life and instilling good values within the young boy.

Unfortunately, right when Rudo seemed to be finding happiness in life, it was snatched away from him. After spending time with the girl he liked and returning home one day, Rudo bumped into a mysterious masked man carrying a book. Picking himself up, he returned home, only to find Regto lying dead with a blade on his chest.

Immediately after, Rudo was caught at the scene and framed for Regto’s murder. Judged guilty without being given any chance to defend himself, Rudo was set to be dropped into the Pit. In his final moments on the sphere, the protagonist saw the masked man he had run into earlier and understood that he was the real culprit behind Regto’s murder.

After ending up in the Pit, Rudo remained determined to return home and seek vengeance. Since then, he has joined the Cleaners and continued searching for clues about his lineage and the truth behind Regto’s death.

Regrettably, despite his exhaustive search, Rudo has yet to find the real culprit in the series.

However, chapter 110 of Gachiakuta showed the answer only to the readers, and the revelation left readers stunned. This installment revealed that Tamsy Caines, the most reliable and kindest member of the Cleaners, had stabbed and killed Regto. Tamsy considered it an act of love and stole the Watchman Series book, which allowed him to alter memories.

Gachiakuta has taken a route that most other shonen series don’t take, unveiling the main antagonist to the audience while the rest of the cast remains unaware of his identity. Tamsy, who is perceived as a powerful ally to the Cleaners, continues to assist them in their operations.

At the same time, the readers get small glimpses into his sadistic personality, as he continues working to break Rudo mentally. His double-sided nature—seen by Rudo as a valuable mentor but secretly the “Angel” responsible for his father’s death—heightens the intensity of every chapter.

In the manga, the leader of the Cleaners, Arkha Corvus, is the only one who suspects Tamsy of not being the noble hero everyone else believes him to be. With suspense reaching a peak, the storytelling has reached a new level of engagement. As a result, fans can’t wait to see the main cast finally discover that their closest friend is a despicable villain.
