My Hero Academia is currently one of the most popular shonen anime series. Moreover, the creator has done a phenomenal job in also creating impressionable characters. Among the many characters introduced in the show, Nejire Hado stands out.

Although it is important to acknowledge that she has a unique Quirk and is also one of the top students from U.A. High School, these are not the reasons why she is popular among fans. Before diving deeper into understanding what makes her character a favorite, it is important to look into how female characters in My Hero Academia are treated.

This series has introduced many strong female heroes and given them unique personalities that range over different tropes of female characters. From Ochaco Uraraka playing the love-struck role to Mt. Lady being fiercely strong but often reduced to fan service.

All these female characters somewhere lie in the extremities of their tropes. But Nejire’s character breaks away from those extremes. The first thing that fans notice about her character in My Hero Academia is her character design. She has been drawn to look visually striking without being overly flashy.

Moreover, even her voice and body language emit a comforting vibe. This is important to note because when all of this is blended and these attributes as assigned to one character, they usually give off a warm, positive vibe.

All of these little quirks make her feel like a real person instead of just another hero in the background. Interestingly, she has more to offer. Her personality is one of her strongest points. She’s friendly, affectionate, and always eager to make connections with others

Nejire doesn’t put on an act. There aren’t many female characters who are allowed to be both soft and strong, both emotional and confident. Nejire hits that balance perfectly. Also, sometimes in shonen genre anime, female characters with a cheerful personality get overshadowed by the fact that they are strong.

During the Paranormal Liberation War arc, fans were thrilled to see her in action. She wasn't just there for backup, and her fighting style was graceful. Even in battle, she maintains her composure and energy. This just added another layer to her charm for fans.

Finally, Nejire is part of the U.A. High School “Big Three,” along with Tamaki Amajiki and Mirio Togata. Watching the three of them interact always makes fans smile. Their group dynamic is unique as Tamaki is awkward and shy, Mirio is full of sunshine and bold energy, and Nejire is that bubbly connector who keeps the group grounded and emotionally open.

Even though Nejire doesn’t get as much screen time as some of the other characters, fans love her. One reason is simply because she fills a gap in the show. There aren’t many female characters who are allowed to be both soft and strong, both emotional and confident. Nejire hits that balance perfectly.

Another reason fans like her is because of the potential they see in her. Many viewers wish the story of My Hero Academia gave her more attention, more development, and more moments to shine. She’s the kind of character who could easily lead her own side story, whether it’s about her school life, her future as a pro hero, or even her relationships with other heroes.

Final Thoughts

Nejire Hado in My Hero Academia is one of the vibrant characters who leave a lasting impression regardless of her limited screentime. Nejire is a reminder that in a high-stakes, male-dominated story, there’s room for kindness, curiosity, and staying true to who you are. And that’s why she’s so popular.
