The One Piece storyline is currently in the land of the giants, Elbaph, and has managed to greatly intrigue readers through major revelations, exciting character introductions, and intense battles. There have been constant debates among the fandom on which Straw Hat the spotlight should fall on this arc.
The suggestions include Usopp, who has been constantly fascinated with the giant warriors, and Sanji, who has many parallels with Scopper Gaban. However, one individual who has not been mentioned as much as she should have is Nico Robin. The Straw Hats’ archaeologist is more connected to the events in the Elbaph Arc than any other main character and deserves to be its central focus.
The Elbaph Arc has not been ongoing for even 20 chapters, but it has already delivered multiple defining moments in One Piece. These include the appearance of the Accursed Prince, Loki, the reveal of the Harley Texts, and the attack by the God’s Knights. While there are no obvious connections between the main cast and the chaotic events occurring, Robin is deeply involved when we take a closer look.

Elbaph has always been a land of mystery, starting right from the ominous warning by Louis Arnot. It is believed to hold ties to the Void Century, be home to missing Poneglyphs, and contain all sorts of unknown elements. The giants themselves are the enemies of the World Government, and there have been tensions between the two groups for a long time.
Robin has ties to all of these themes. As a resident of Ohara, she had been in the presence of the scholars who were researching the Void Century. She is currently the only active pirate who can read Poneglyphs and has also faced a disastrous Buster Call as a child, which killed everyone she held dear.
Thankfully, the young Robin was saved by the giant Jaguar D. Saul. Though her savior’s fate had been unconfirmed for a long time, the Elbaph Arc reintroduced him and featured the tear-jerking reunion between Saul and Robin.

Soon after, Robin was shown the Owl Library, which contained the remnants of the research conducted by Ohara’s scholars as well as other knowledge forbidden by the World Government. However, disaster soon struck as the God’s Knights began their invasion of Elbaph and kidnapped the giants' children.
In an effort to stop them, Saul was injured by Sommers while Robin was left helpless. The recent chapter of the One Piece manga saw the God’s Knights expressing the reason for their attack on Elbaph, which was to control the giants and to make them burn down their library and school.
This would ensure the only remaining scriptures that researchers from all around the world had given their lives to save would be destroyed. Hence, the primary objective of the antagonists opposes everything Robin has been fighting for.
Soon after her heartwarming reunion with Saul and witnessing the fruits of her efforts through Elbaph's library, the World Government is trying to uproot Robin's life yet again. To truly move on from her survivor’s guilt and confront her fears, it is crucial for Robin to be the central Straw Hat in this arc.
How Robin can contribute to One Piece’s Elbaph Arc
So far in the Elbaph Arc, Robin has not had as many contributions as she has had a joyful homecoming. Nevertheless, with the threat of the God’s Knights, she has been pushed to fight for all she holds dear.
Given that Saint Sommers has severely harmed Saul, most fans are hoping for Robin to face off against this Celestial Dragon in the coming chapters. Having been classified as a Demon Child by the very same World Government she is fighting, it would be fitting for her to use her Demonio Fleur ability against them as well.
By defeating the God’s Knights and protecting the library, Robin would have begun taking steps towards avenging the researchers of Elbaph. Going past the immediate conflict, key lore drops such as the Harley Texts and the likelihood of a Poneglyph being in Elbaph have already been presented.
Since Robin is the smartest Straw Hat and her intellect has stood out in every arc, fans are hoping for her insights on the multiple worlds of One Piece and the quest towards finding Laugh Tale.
While characters such as Usopp need to be highlighted in the Elbaph Arc to grow in strength, Robin is tightly associated with most themes introduced in the land of the giants. Her possession of forbidden knowledge, connection to Saul, and trauma inflicted by the World Government make her the perfect Straw Hat to take the helm of this One Piece storyline.
