The Demon Slayer series has one of the best casts compared to most modern Shonen titles. This series has a simple plot, and therefore, the characters play an important role in how viewers perceive the show. Fans often discuss popular characters who have received a ton of screen time during the series. However, there is one underrated character whose influence could have helped the Demon Slayer Corps achieve their goal while reducing the loss that they suffered.

The character in question is none other than Sabito. He was introduced during the very first season of the anime. At this juncture of the story, Tanjiro Kamado was training for the Final Selection. Sakonji Urokodaki devised a test that would help Tanjiro prepare for the Final Selection. Tanjiro was supposed to cut a massive boulder in two, but he didn’t have the strength or technique for it. That’s when Sabito entered the scene, and he conversed with Tanjiro.

However, he was dead, and fans never really knew how Tanjiro managed to converse with him. That being said, the crux here is Sabito’s abilities as a demon hunter. We get a glimpse of Sabito’s abilities when we take a look at Giyu Tomioka’s past.

He was training to become a demon hunter, and that’s when he befriended Sabito. Both of them trained under Sakonji Urokodaki’s tutelage. Giyu doesn’t believe that he deserves the title of a Hashira, and this is because of Sabito’s final moments.

Sabito was so skilled that he was able to kill demons and save other demon hunters simultaneously. However, Giyu was on the verge of being killed by the Hand Demon. Sabito swooped in last second and pushed Giyu away. Unfortunately, Sabito was killed by the Hand Demon.

Sabito was exponentially better than Giyu Tomioka at a very young age. There is no doubt that the current Water Hashira’s efforts were monumental in defeating Kibutsuji Muzan and Upper Moon demons. However, Demon Slayer fans can’t help but wonder about he extent of Sabito’s skills, especially if they were cultivated under the right guidance.

There is a very high chance that Sabito would have developed the Demon Slayer Mark and perfected the Water Breathing technique. Fans believed that this character would have been exceptionally entertaining to watch. This is why Sabito is one of the most underrated characters in Demon Slayer.

One can argue about Sabito’s sacrifice in the Demon Slayer series. However, it’s not easy to identify and predict Sabito’s trajectory and compare it to Giyu Tomioka. One of the reasons why Giyu trained so hard was due to the loss he suffered. Nobody could keep up with him, and as a result of his training, he created a new technique in Water Breathing.

Furthermore, Giyu Tomioka played an important role in killing Akaza, the Upper Moon 3 demon. He managed to do so by unlocking the Demon Slayer Mark and pairing up with Tanjiro to defeat him. Giyu also landed a few decisive blows on Muzan himself. These are no ordinary feats, and therefore, Sabito’s sacrifice did not go in vain.

In summation, Sabito’s abilities put him on the path to becoming one of the greatest Water Hashiras to have ever lived. His skills at a young age made him one of the most underrated characters. Fans would have loved to see this character’s true potential in the Demon Slayer series.
