Sakamoto Days chapter 221 recap

Sakamoto Days chapter 221, titled “Protect,” begins with a color panel where a news channel reports on the destructive aquarium incident. Aoi saw this and expressed concern. Back at the train, Shin’s bold plan worked, as Sakamoto’s heart briefly started beating again.

As Heisuke, Kindaka, and Boiled rushed to compress Sakamoto’s wound, the deuteragonist fainted from exhaustion. At that point, a mysterious figure suddenly showed up near them. The scene then shifted to a destroyed hideout where Shishiba, Osaragi, and Kamihate were nursing their wounds.

They were soon approached by Nagumo, who thanked them for creating a distraction. However, Shishiba lashed out at him for pushing enemies such as Oki and Torres toward them, leading to them nearly losing their lives. Nagumo continued maintaining his easygoing attitude, which further enraged Shishiba.

The two continued their conversation while fighting against assassins who had been sent by the JAA and X’s Organization. Nagumo tried convincing Shishiba that he would need to continue his resistance against Uzuki for the sake of the country, but his dishonesty was immediately pointed out.

Shishiba suspected that Nagumo’s goals were far from noble and asked him to drop his façade. Right then, Osaragi finally woke up and started crying due to having lost her previous battle. While Shishiba tried to calm her down, Nagumo thought about his reason for targeting X, realizing it stemmed from his connection to Rion.

Shishiba noticed Nagumo’s turmoil and stated that he would join in his fight against the antagonists—not out of some grand goal, but to pay them back for the earlier defeat. Meanwhile, Uzuki remained in pursuit of Sakamoto, while Gozu told him that he was going overboard.

The antagonist remarked that Sakamoto wouldn’t die so easily and stated his need to kill him to finally move forward. Gozu accepted this but told his leader to stop moping around. Afterwards, Sakamoto was shown lying in bed and being taken care of by Granny Miya.

Presumed to be the individual who appeared on the train, she revealed that she did everything she could, and Sakamoto’s fate now depended on his own life force. She then suggested that the rest of the group run away before X caught up with them. However, Shin refused, declaring that he would fight for the place he had grown to care about.
