Sakamoto Days is a unique series that garnered immense popularity even before the release of its anime. It attracted not only fans of the source material but also the fandom of another beloved shonen manga, Jujutsu Kaisen, which had ended just a few months before Sakamoto Days began airing.
Though there are no obvious similarities between the two stories apart from their targeted demographic, Jujutsu Kaisen fans jumped onto the Sakamoto Days train for one specific reason - the main antagonist, Kei Uzuki, looked very similar to Satoru Gojo. However, their parallels do not go beyond that, as Kei Uzuki is nothing like Satoru Gojo.
Uzuki, who also goes by “X” and “Slur”, is a fascinating villain who runs his own organization for the sake of overthrowing the Japanese Association of Assassins and plunging the world into chaos. Gojo is the strongest sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen, who is a pillar of society and a mentor to the main characters.

At first glance, these two individuals from different series may seem similar. They are attractive, their illustrations on manga covers look alike, and they have enigmatic personas where no one really knows what runs through their head.
However, this feeling lasts only for a few arcs of Sakamoto Days. The assassin-based action story goes deep into the life and mindset of Uzuki, showing him as a caring leader with a tragic past. Uzuki has several moments of emotional vulnerability, where he is taken advantage of by his superiors and even beaten in battle.
However, the death of his close friend, Rion Akao, changed him, making him proactively try and break down the system of assassins. Over the course of the series, Uzuki faces more losses of his allies and his mentality is constantly strained, to the level where even his subordinates are unsure of his intentions.

Gojo, on the other hand, is a limitlessly powerful person whose very birth shifted the power structure of the world. While Uzuki is often reserved, Gojo speaks his mind and is nonchalant. Excluding a few from the main cast, most people only see Gojo as a weapon, never truly getting to know the man himself.
Therefore, Uzuki is a complex antagonist whose humanity and mental turmoil are constantly highlighted, yet he has a group that is devoted to him. In contrast, Gojo is a loveable mentor figure whose confidence is hardly ever shaken, though very few genuinely care about him.
How is Sakamoto Days’ Kei Uzuki similar to Satoru Gojo?
As mentioned, the manner of development and characterization of Kei Uzuki couldn’t be further apart from Gojo. Apart from a few scenes, even their designs, which were originally believed to be similar, stray farther from each other.
However, if one really wishes to find some common feature shared by the two, it would be their incredible strength. Uzuki is a man worthy of being in the Order, is talented in combat, and can also steal the abilities of others. He is currently the most dangerous person in Sakamoto Days.
Gojo’s strength needs no introduction, as he has unmeasurable cursed energy and displays genius intellect through his cursed techniques. However, even the method of showing their status as the strongest differs.
Kei Uzuki was not always powerful, and he constantly got overshadowed by Sakamoto, Nagumo, and others. However, he was forced to make himself stronger to chase his goals, and fans saw his gradual development into a monstrous character. On the other hand, Gojo is never seen as a weak person in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Even as a boy, he struck fear into the hearts of others, and very few could get past his Limitless and Six Eyes. As a result, even after losing against Sukuna, most fans refuse to accept the result of their battle.
Hence, those who start watching or reading Sakamoto Days with the hope that Kei Uzuki is another Satoru Gojo will be disappointed. However, if seen as his own character with no preconceived notions, Uzuki proves to be a layered individual who captivates fans and holds their attention every time he is on screen.
