Alison returns to Oakdale -- by way of Genoa City

Newcomer Marnie Schulenburg will take over the role of Alison Stewart later this year on As the World Turns. In the meantime, she will air on The Young and the Restless as part of a crossover storyline.

Newcomer Marnie Schulenburg has been tapped to play Alison Stewart. And while the actress has alreayd made her on-screen debut, don't expect to see her when you tune in for your daily viewing of As the World Turns.

On February 22nd, Schulenburg made her first appearance as Alison -- on The Young and the Restless. The appearance marked the beginning of a crossover between As the World Turns and the top-rated The Young and the Restless that will include a special online-only series.

Alison's return ends the character's year-and-a-half absence from As the World Turns. Jessica Dunphy was the last performer to appear on-screen as Alison, wrapping up a three-year run on As the World Turns in July 2005. Prior to Dunphy, two other actresses held the role os Alison: Amy Princine from 1994 to 2000 and Sarah Hyland, who appeared briefly as Alison in 2001.

When last spotted in Oakdale, Alison was preparing to move to Seattle to be with her then-boyfriend Aaron Snyder. But things have changed since then -- and Alison ended up in Los Angeles where she met up with Amber Moore, a character that originated on The Bold and the Beautiful but has since crossed over to The Young and the Restless. The friendship between Amber and Alison is chronicled in an online series called L.A. Diaries.

Schulenburg's journey to Oakdale will come to a close on March 21st when she makes her first As the World Turns appearance.

In related crossover news, Kelley Menighan Hensley (Emily Stewart, As the World Turns) crosses over to The Young and the Restless on March 27th.
