B&B's Linsey Godfrey gets an unusual Daytime Emmy congratulation

The Bold and the Beautiful's Linsey Godfrey (Caroline Spencer) got quite an unusual shock soon after she found out she's been nominated for a 2016 Daytime Emmy award.

The Bold and the Beautiful's Linsey Godfrey (Caroline Spencer) got two surprises today. First she found out she'd been nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category for this year's Daytime Emmy Awards, and then she got peed on by her nearly two-year-old daughter, Aleda! And that's just part of the whirlwind day she tells Soap Central has been quite a fun and interesting ride.

soapcentral.com: Hi Linsey, and congratulations!

Linsey Godfrey: Thank you very much.

soapcentral.com: So, how did you find out today that you'd been nominated?

Godfrey: Oh, it's a funny story. I was getting out of the shower with my daughter and saw the barrage of texts on my phone, and I had her in my arms, and one of the show's producers said, "Congratulations," and I was like, "Wait, no, it's too early. Are you sure?" And he said, "Yeah, East Coast feed," and just as he was saying that, my daughter peed all over me. So it's been an interesting day.

soapcentral.com: Ha! That's hilarious! She was just so excited for you!

Godfrey: Yeah! [Laughs]

soapcentral.com: So who did you tell first?

Godfrey: I told her!

soapcentral.com: Well, there you go! But she doesn't really understand, right?

Godfrey: No, she just kind of laughs at everything I say. She's only 21 months.

soapcentral.com: Have you told anyone else?

Godfrey: No, but I think everybody else found out and knew a little bit before I did, so kind of everybody else told me. I had to be like, "Oh, thanks! Thanks!"

soapcentral.com: Which scenes did you end up submitting this year?

Godfrey: I submitted the ones where Caroline tells Ridge [Thorsten Kaye] that she slept with Thomas [Pierson Fodé] and that she's pregnant and it's his baby. When we were doing the scenes, we had a pretty good idea that they were going to mean something to us, and those were always the ones in my head. I had watched other episodes, but those were the scenes that stuck out to me. And it was just the one episode. I just kind of kept it short and sweet.

soapcentral.com: What do you think about the other women you're up against this year?

Godfrey: I feel really honored, especially being in the Supporting Actress category, just because it is a larger category. And I think that women in daytime are such fiercely strong and powerful and beautiful and talented women, so to be nominated amongst them is absolutely just an honor. And I'm proud that I get this opportunity.

soapcentral.com: Obviously not everyone can be nominated, but is there anyone you didn't see that you think should have been nominated?

Godfrey: Thorsten. I'm a little shocked and very disappointed. The men in the Lead Acting category made it a really, really difficult category. I know that just from our sister show, with Christian LeBlanc [Michael Baldwin, Y&R] and Kristoff [St. John, Neil Winters, Y&R] and Justin [Hartley, Adam Newman, Y&R]. They had such outstanding performances, and it was a really tough category. But I am disappointed, because I thought Thorsten was so amazing and so well deserving of the nomination.

soapcentral.com: Have you thought at all about what you might wear?

Godfrey: Yeah, I've already picked out my Emmy dress, but I'm keeping who I'm bringing and what I'm wearing kind of a secret until the time. At least for now.

soapcentral.com: Wow, you prepare quick.

Godfrey: Yeah, it was kind of one of those things where I saw the dress and was like, "Oh, that's it!" I was talking to a friend, describing exactly the dress I wanted, and then I saw it, and I was like, "Oh, there it is. Done!"

soapcentral.com: Well then it was obviously meant to be! I've known some actresses who didn't have their dresses the night before the event.

Godfrey: My first year, I got my dress at 8:30 or 9:00PM and then had to rush it to a 24-hour seamstress. And we had to be there at 3:30 the next day, and I got my dress at 1:00, so I was rushing home, thinking, "Oh, my God, please fit, please fit!"

soapcentral.com: Then no wonder you choose it early now!

Godfrey: Yeah, now I just want to get it taken care of. I wear it a couple of times, move around in it. I don't want any surprises!
