Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful know Lisa Yamada as Luna Nozawa, but they’ll soon be seeing another side of the actress.

Prime Video‘s upcoming Elle will be the prequel series based on the movie Legally Blonde starring Reese Witherspoon. Starring Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods, the series will be set years before the movie, which told the story of Elle graduating from Harvard Law School. The Prime Video series will depict Elle in high school, with events helping her become the person we saw in the movies.
It was recently announced that Lisa Yamada has been cast to star in a recurring role in the series. She will play the role of Amber, a Bel Air high school friend in Elle’s social circle; Kayla Maisonet (The Rookie) will also be part of the friends’ group as Tiffany.
Joining Yamada will be Chloe Wepper (The Rookie) as Ms. Burke, Elle’s chemistry teacher and choreographer to the high school cheer team. David Burtka (How I Met Your Mother) Burtka is Chad, Elle’s family’s neighbor.
Before starring on The Bold and the Beautiful as Luna Nozawa, Yamada was a series regular on Freeform’s Cruel Summer. She also appeared on Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere, The CW’s All American, and had a supporting role in SXSW’s I Wish You All The Best in 2024.

In addition to the announcement about Lisa Yamada joining the cast of Elle, previously announced cast members on Deadline include James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek), who will recur as the city’s new mayoral candidate, and current school district superintendent Dean Wilson.
Additionally, June Diane Raphael and Tom Everett Scott as Elle’s parents, Eva and Wyatt. Gabrielle Policano (Liz), Jacob Moskovitz (Miles), Chandler Kinney (Kimberly), and Zac Looker (Dustin) are also part of the cast, with recurring roles going to Jessica Belkin (Madison), Logan Shroyer (Josh), Amy Pietz (Donna), Matt Ober (Principal Anderson), Chloe Wepper (Ms. Burke), and Brad Harder (Charlie).
Elle from Witherspoon and her Hello Sunshine banner, part of Candle Media; creator Laura Kittrell (High School, Insecure) is co-showrunner and executive producer with Caroline Dries. Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, and Marc Platt are also executive producers, and Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) will direct the first two episodes.
