The Bold and the Beautiful's Liam will live, although we are still not sure what the heck really happened to him over the last few months. So, now that Steffy and Hope can breathe a sigh of relief (and likely get back to squabbling), we can return to what their mothers do best. Fight over Ridge. Sigh.
Confidence, shmonfidence

Just who is Taylor Hayes fooling with her little confidence act? Finally, after three decades, she is more sure of Ridge's love than ever when he is only with her due to another misunderstanding with Brooke and she is the one who had to propose marriage. Her clear lack of confidence is understandable, and every time she tells anyone that she knows right down to the bottom of her soul that Ridge is hers and only hers, we want to laugh. Right along with Donna, who we are sure is laughing inside as she tries to avoid this awkward situation in her own home.
Is there any more evidence of Taylor's raw and shot nerves than how often she keeps popping up at Forrester Creations unannounced to lock people in vaults or listen to what's going on behind closed doors? Before she did that this week, she had a long chat with Nick and suggested he keep an eye on Brooke while she is in Italy with Ridge. We wouldn't want Brooke wandering off and misbehaving like a child, right? Surely, this grandmother needs a babysitter.
All Nick could do was laugh inside, and all we could do was roll our eyes, but there was so much more eye rolling to come.
Broken record Brooke is at it again

Why does Brooke even bother wasting her breath anymore when all she has to do is make a recording of her telling Ridge he is her destiny and he needs to come home and he made a mistake and blah blah blah blah. It's the same thing. Over and over and over again. For DECADES. We get a break from it every once in a while when Ridge really does "come home," but it inevitably starts up again and it's getting old. So old. So incredibly old. And any time B&B wants to try something new, like Taylor and Brooke having enough of Ridge and deciding to be BFFs, it's ruined within months for no good reason.
It's almost embarrassing watching these two women at this point, but ya know what's even more embarrassing? How much their families are invested in this.
Don't they have their own lives?

Yes, Brooke, Ridge, and Taylor act like they are in high school, but technically, they are grown adults, so if they want to act like children, let them. Why are Eric and Steffy so invested in this mess?
Shouldn't Eric be off playing pickleball with Donna somewhere rather than spending his time lecturing Ridge about his destiny? It's borderline creepy, to be honest, because no man should be this interested in his grown son's love life the way that Eric is interested in Ridge's.
And then there's Steffy. She needs to leave her parents alone. She has seen her folks ride this merry-go-round literally her entire life. She got off the one she rode with Liam (maybe), so why wouldn't she want her mother to get off the one she rides with Ridge?
Steffy's other life

When she is not worried about whether her parents are having sex or not, Steffy is always worried about Liam, but now she doesn't have to worry as much because it turns out that Liam is going to live after all. We still don't know what happened here, but at least Liam, Hope, and their daughter are happy. Finn and Bridget? They are just perplexed.
Our guess is that Grace is also a gambling addict and owes some big money, just as her husband did when he switched Baby Beth with a stillborn baby. But why such an elaborate scheme to bilk money out of Bill? Did Liam never really have a tumor? Was it all a lie? If so, that is some long game that Grace was playing and also quite a gamble. But, if she has a gambling addiction, maybe the risk was part of her high.
This story doesn't make much sense and it comes with some disappointment. We thought we were going to get a gritty death and dying story and in the end, we got no such thing and feel cheated. But at least Steffy gets a vacation and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood gets a well-deserved maternity leave out of it.
Odds and ends

Daphne's back, which means she can intoxicate Carter with her magic fragrance again, causing Hope to do all sorts of silly things to hold onto her man just as her mother has done for years. Yawn.

But at least we have Sheila. We admit that she and Deacon and their "Daddy" talk were not our cup of tea for quite a while, but now they are kinda growing on us. Even Steffy was nice to Sheila this week. That threw us as much as it threw Sheila. Liam tried to get in on the act too and was as gracious about Luna's death as he could be, considering that she shot him. But we'll take Sheila Eight Toes and her quirky sense of humor for now, Scoopers, because we know our regularly scheduled Sheila will be back one day or this wouldn't be B&B.
