The Bold and the Beautiful's Bill Spencer came out of the dark this week when he learned that his son had been suffering from a brain tumor for months, while keeping his illness a secret from his family. It was quite a reckoning for Bill, coming on top of another revelation — that his foolish move helping Luna Nozawa could have cost Liam his life.
Bill's shock, horror, anger, and determination all culminated in an incredible week for Don Diamont as the stunned father who had to face his own demons and save his son, earning him Soap Central's B&B Performer of the Week.
Bill learns the truth about Liam

Bill was still reeling from learning that Luna (Lisa Yamada), the deranged and delusional young woman he helped free from prison, had shot his son. Diamont's face and voice showed naked guilt as Bill had his mea culpa moment, knowing if he hadn't had such faith in Luna, then Liam (Scott Clifton) wouldn't be in the hospital with a bullet wound in his chest.
However, when Hope (Annika Noelle) blurted out that Liam could have been in the hospital for another reason — an incurable brain tumor — Bill's world seemed to go white. As Bill absorbed this information, Diamont's facial expressions and cracked voice tugged at our heartstrings. Bill seemed to drown out all of Steffy's (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Ridge's (Thorsten Kaye) shouting as he faced some facts about Liam and his relationship with his son.
Bill's determination reigned

From the moment Bill learned that Liam had been hiding a cancer diagnosis for months, Diamont took the character into high gear. He was ready and willing to do anything to help his son live, including forking over a cool million in what would have looked like a shady deal to any objective observer.
Diamont demonstrated Bill's desperate panic as the character made what were likely more false moves. Despite cringing as Bill agreed to anything Grace (Cassandra Creech) asked, we understood why Bill wasn't thinking straight and felt for him. He tried to be a better person earlier this year when he helped Luna, and now he was paying for it. Bill didn't have time to think as he tried to make things right — and Diamont's expressions, tones, and vulnerable sobs of despair captured it all.
This was Bill Spencer's week on B&B, and Don Diamont exceeded our expectations.
