Luna's recent storyline on The Bold and the Beautiful is unorthodox, and that's putting it mildly. From a prison pardon to a faked death to a baby from sexual assault, Luna's making everyone's lives difficult, including viewers, who are asked to suspend disbelief. However, despite the foolishness, a bright spot this week was the performance of Tanner Novlan's Finn as he struggled with his daughter's return to the living.

Since learning that Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) was his birth mother, Finn (Tanner Novlan) has historically struggled with maintaining a necessary distance from the danger that she brings. This has proven to be just as important with Luna (Lisa Yamada), since she carries the same danger level as her grandmother. This week, Luna blindsided her father, surprising him at work, hoping for a joyful reunion. Novlan expertly portrayed the complex feelings facing Finn because while she still presents an active danger, she's also his daughter.

On several occasions in the past, Finn lowered his guard and let Sheila back into his orbit. Naturally, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) was vehemently against having Sheila anywhere near herself or their children, but still Finn couldn't help himself. There was a gravitational pull between him and his mother that prevented him from going completely no contact. Now that Luna is a free woman (for the time being), not only does she expect Finn to be happy she's still alive, but she clearly wants him to be a part of her baby's life.

Novlan had the difficult task of showcasing the conflicted emotions that come with a daughter like Luna. He was able to express relief that his daughter didn't meet such a violent end, but also the unresolved anger stemming from her atrocities.

Finn wants justice for his family

One of Finn's most cutting lines this week took place shortly after Luna dropped by his office with her life-changing revelation. He told her, "I'm just curious how you're gonna do all of that when you're locked in a prison cell. You pulled a gun on Steffy, Luna. You shot Sheila and Liam." In that moment, Finn showcased a new side of himself. He was finally standing up for his family. For once, no waffle or waver could be found in his voice, which is something he failed to do in the past.

Once Finn solidified his stance against Luna and opted for her to be sent back to prison, he was left with another battle of internal turmoil. His next great challenge will be to decide whether or not it's time to tell Steffy that her greatest fear has come to fruition, or if he should continue to keep her in the dark. With her return looming, he will need to make a quick decision.

Novlan perfectly played the stages of Finn's torment, with his facial expressions capturing the impossibility of the situation. In a week that had a ridiculous storyline take center stage, he made the most of the material provided.
