The Bold and the Beautiful Recap, June 20: Taylor and Brooke's latest war of words

What happened on The Bold and the Beautiful

Steffy and Carter sat in Eric's office discussing all the missing silk that never made it to Los Angeles. Steffy handed Carter a sample of Daphne's new men's fragrance. He took a whiff and declared that "it might be her best yet." Ridge walked in and agreed with Steffy that they needed Daphne back.

"I know that your fiancée has issues with her, but we can't let Hope's feelings interfere with the company's success," Steffy told Carter. So, he took the opportunity to bring up another topic. "Have you given any thought to restarting Hope For The Future?" Carter asked. "Hope's willing to do what it takes to make that happen, but we have to back her 100%."

Ridge said that he and Steffy were discussing it, but hadn't made up their minds. "So, it's the usual. Hope is at Forrester, but her line is in limbo," Carter said. Steffy admitted she still couldn't forget what happened with the coup. She brought up Daphne again, but Carter wanted to be sensitive to Hope's feelings.

Steffy asked Carter to try to convince Hope to get over what happened with Daphne. Just then, Carter received a text from Hope and ran off to see her.

When Steffy and Ridge were alone in the office, Steffy asked her dad why he seemed distracted. "Brooke," was all he could say. Steffy was shocked when Ridge told her that Nick was back in town. She didn't see the big deal that he seemed to want Brooke. "Why are you so concerned about who Brooke spends her time with?" Steffy asked.

Steffy didn't think it was necessary for Ridge to be so protective of Brooke. "She is vulnerable right now, so I'm going to be concerned and protect her, that's all," Ridge said. Steffy pointed out that Ridge sounded a bit jealous. Ridge denied Steffy's accusation. "What kind of message does this think this is sending Mom?" Steffy asked.

Taylor was skeptical when Brooke appeared in Eric's living room and complimented her on her therapist skills. Brooke explained that she was there to drop off some papers for Eric, so Taylor said she'd make sure he got them before taking the chance to bring up Nick.

Brooke told Taylor that seeing Nick was a big surprise. "A pleasant one, I assume?" Taylor asked.

"I won't deny it was wonderful to see Nick again," Brooke admitted. Taylor wondered if Nick was as smitten with Brooke as always. "It's no secret that he was always so fond of you," Taylor remarked. "He knows that Ridge and I are a couple and he can pursue you again, as only a Marone man can," she added.

Taylor said it was the perfect time for Nick to make his move. "Ridge is with me. You're single, you're available," Taylor pointed out. "Wow, somebody is certainly interested in Nick and me," Brooke noted.

Brooke noted that Ridge didn't think she should be with Nick again, so Taylor accused Brooke of implying that Ridge was jealous. "You'd be happy to know that Ridge denied being jealous," Brooke said. "But let's just say that I see clearly now more than ever how much Ridge cares about me and wants to protect me," she added.

Hope stopped by Il Giardano to show Deacon her engagement ring. Hope admitted that she never saw the proposal coming. Deacon reminded Hope that she and Carter were recently on the outs, so he asked a pointed question. "Are you sure about this, Hope?" She said that she was, so Deacon tried to be satisfied with her answer.

"Dad, please stop. I'm the happiest I've been in a long time. The fact that I get to be Mrs. Carter Walton is just icing on the cake, so you have nothing to worry about, okay?" Hope assured.

Deacon then started to ask about a wedding date and wedding plans. Hope wasn't that far in the planning stages yet, but she hoped that Deacon would walk her down the aisle despite him not liking Carter. "I promise I am not looking to be your new husband's enemy or for him to be mine," Deacon told his daughter. Of course, he would walk her down the aisle.

"I promise you, Dad. He's a good man," Hope said of Carter. That didn't stop Deacon from bringing up the fact that Carter had kissed Daphne. Hope soon sat at the bar, thinking about the fact that Steffy was trying to get Daphne to return. When Carter arrived, Deacon glared at him and told him he needed to get something off her chest.

"I don't think it's any secret to you how precious my daughter is to me, but all I want is her happiness, so don't screw up again," Deacon said before shaking Carter's hand. Carter promised that he was completely committed to Hope. "I know how special she is," Carter said, but he, too, was thinking about Steffy's suggestion that Daphne return, and how he needed to smooth that over with Hope.
