The Bold and the Beautiful's Ridge will never stop being ridiculous

Did The Bold and the Beautiful's Ridge Forrester really just break off his engagement to Taylor only to turn around and propose to Brooke in the next scene? Yes, he really did. We have no idea why we are surprised, because we shouldn't be.

And just like that, Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) is no longer engaged to Taylor (Rebecca Budig), but he is engaged to Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang). And all it took was one short commercial break for Ridge to do to Taylor what he did to Brooke last spring. Brooke and Ridge had one big fight, and then one big misunderstanding.

Brooke walked out of Eric's (John McCook) front door, and Ridge was upstairs in bed with Taylor before Brooke even pulled out of the driveway. Taylor, who has no self-respect and knew exactly why Ridge turned to her, couldn't have cared less. She had her man, and it didn't matter that he was still technically engaged to someone else and had just slept with her days before.

And it certainly didn't matter to Ridge, who took Taylor as his consolation prize once again, just as he had in 2022 after another misunderstanding that involved Thomas and an altered recording. Why he ever accepted Taylor's proposal is beyond us when he clearly didn't want to — and even said so before covering for himself and saying yes.

Two women, one ridiculous man

For months, we have had to watch Brooke beg and plead for Ridge to return to her, humiliating herself at every turn. She even flung herself off a boat in the Mediterranean to catch his attention before returning home to turn down Nick's (Jack Wagner) marriage proposal — all in the name of destiny.

As expected, the second Ridge walked into Eric's office with a rose to propose to Logan 30 seconds (give or take) after dumping Taylor, Brooke was all a-swoon. But WHY?!?!?

Why do these two mature, successful women keep degrading themselves for this one man who thinks they are interchangeable? He hops from one of their beds to the next without blinking an eye, and they keep letting him. We knew Ridge was not going to marry Taylor, but to propose to Brooke in the next scene was really beyond the pale. But Brooke is happy, and we guess that's all that counts. Hopefully, Taylor can physically survive Ridge breaking her heart again, something she should have seen coming a million miles away...
