Brief Character History

Dani Dupree is the daughter of former civil rights advocate and U.S. Senator Vernon Dupree and Anita Dupree, who once had been a successful recording artist. Dani grew up in the affluent gated community of Fairmont Crest in Maryland but left home at 16 to pursue modeling, quickly finding fame. At 19, Dani met attorney Bill Hamilton at a party and gave up her career to help Bill establish his own law firm with the help of her wealthy parents. During her 30-year marriage to Bill, Dani bore him two daughters, Naomi and Chelsea, and forced herself to tolerate Bill's constant infidelity. Dani convinced Bill to hire Naomi's best friend, Hayley Lawson, as a paralegal, not knowing that Bill would eventually leave her for the younger woman.

The rageful Dani was already boiling over Bill scheduling his wedding to Hayley at Fairmont Crest's country club, but when Dani learned that Bill had bought a house for them just down the street from her, Dani punched Hayley and smacked Bill in the face. Dani was further enraged when her parents insisted that the family attend Bill's nuptials, which Vernon would only say they had to do.

Dani had pushed Chelsea into the modeling career she had sacrificed and micromananged it so intensely, photographer Andre Richardson had to counsel Dani to lighten up. Dani had a one-night stand with the empowering Andre but it only convinced her to ask Bill to come home; when Bill rejected her, Dani took out a gun at his wedding ceremony and pulled the trigger.
