As Johnny got ready for work, Chanel mentioned that he had barely touched his eggs. Johnny said he was nervous about going back to work after being arrested. Chanel thought work would be a good distraction. She offered him a little "courage" with a kiss.

"All this that's happening, I brought it on myself," Johnny admitted, referring to confronting EJ with a gun. Chanel insisted that he didn't and asked Johnny to be kinder to himself. "It doesn't matter what you intended to do. You did not go through with it, and that's all that matters," Chanel said.

At the DiMera mansion, Tony walked in on EJ on the phone, telling Rita he knew he could count on her. "To do what exactly?" Tony asked. "What kind of mischief is our poor Rita making for you this time?"

Although EJ had been talking about Rita getting the memory card to Belle, EJ lied and said he was talking about hospital business. EJ reminded Tony that Rita was "loyal to each and every one of us while betraying none."

The brothers then started arguing about company business. EJ wanted to focus on the hospital, but told Tony that he could make a play for DiMera Enterprises on his own. EJ was sure Xander and Philip would be at each other's throats soon, but Tony didn't want to wait around for that.

Tony wanted the company to be run by a DiMera, but neither he nor EJ wanted to do it. "And Kristen, her reign was just a total disaster," Tony pointed out. EJ thought that Johnny could be their man. Tony worried that Johnny might be convicted, but EJ didn't think so. "I know for sure that Johnny will beat this," EJ said, shocking Tony.

Tony wanted to know how he was so sure. "The case is young. There's plenty of time for new evidence to present itself," EJ said. Tony knew that EJ had to be up to something. "You've already arranged for this to happen, haven't you?" Tony asked.

At the Salem PD, Jada showed Belle the ballistics report on the gun that shot EJ. It proved that it was Roman's gun. They both agreed that this was bad for Johnny. Jada still thought it was nuts that the judge unrecused Belle and she was being forced to prosecute her own nephew.

Belle tried to be pragmatic. "If I'm leading the case, at least it will be run by someone with integrity and Johnny will get a fair trial," Belle said. She insisted they had to do everything by the book, but her gut told her that Johnny was innocent.

Belle then informed Jada that EJ had taken the memory card out of the camera before he was shot. Neither Belle nor Jada thought the memory card could help Johnny unless they found other possible suspects on it. However, they knew that if they didn't figure out who dropped off the memory card, it might not be admissible in court.

"Either way, someone wanted to get that evidence into your hands and get your undivided attention," Jada said. "Well, they got it," Belle admitted. They finally connected the card to a laptop.

Later, Chanel ran into Paulina in Horton Town Square and tried to turn away from her. "Chanel Dupree, don't you dare walk away from me," Paulina said. Chanel replied, "It's DiMera. Chanel DiMera."

Chanel accused Paulina of railroading Johnny and tried to walk away again, but Paulina wouldn't allow it. She reminded Chanel that she was the mayor and had to look at the big picture. "And you think that Johnny is guilty as sin, right?" Chanel angrily asked.

"I am hoping beyond hope that my gut is wrong here, Chanel," Paulina insisted. Chanel begged Paulina to do something to protect Johnny, for her sake. "I wish I could, but we gotta let this play out in court," Paulina said. Chanel finally broke down and cried. Paulina assured Chanel that new evidence could turn up to help Johnny.

They discussed Johnny's case. Chanel begrudgingly admitted that EJ was the best representation Johnny could have, even if it was a little weird. Paulina warned Chanel that EJ could have a dirty trick up his sleeve. Just then, Jada called to ask Paulina to come to the station and see new evidence. Belle did the same with EJ.

When they all watched the footage together, they saw that Chanel was arguing with EJ that night. Paulina looked like she was going to pass out when she heard Chanel say, "I'm not going to let you live long enough to hurt Johnny or anyone ever again."

Gwen woke with a smile in a Salem Inn bed, but when she reached for Xander, he wasn't there. She sat down for some breakfast and remembered almost having a wild time with Xander the night before, but he stopped himself and ran from her room. Soon, there was a knock on her door. Gwen opened it to find her brother, JJ, standing there.

JJ asked Gwen if she waited to know Jack and Jennifer were gone before showing her face in Salem again. Gwen noted that Jack didn't even care about her, but JJ disagreed. "You could have had a relationship with him, but you spat in his face. Even with me, but you screwed that up royally when you decided to go after my sister," JJ said.

JJ said he would never forgive Gwen, so she asked why he was in her room. JJ picked up the famed diamond necklace and said that she bought stolen property, so he was returning it to its rightful owner. When JJ tried to walk away with the necklace, Gwen stopped him.

"Does Julie have proof that it belonged to her first? A receipt? A photograph, perhaps?" Gwen asked. JJ had no answer, so Gwen grabbed the necklace back. "If Julie wants her necklace so badly, she can sue me for it," Gwen said. She put the necklace on, so Johnny accused her of torturing the Hortons, "because my dad started a family with my mother instead of yours."

"You had everything. Did you think that I didn't need a father, too? Because I did. When my mother died, I had nothing. I had nobody," Gwen said, before describing her experience growing up in a group home. "By the time I met Jack, he had nothing left to give. There was no room for me to his daughter," Gwen lamented.

JJ told her to just get over it. "Abigail is dead and you are very much alive. So, you can continue being jealous of a dead woman or you can use this opportunity to change your life for the better," JJ said. Gwen insisted that her life was fine. She was rich, so what more could she ask for? "Family," JJ replied.

Gwen listened as JJ told her she needed to extend an olive branch. "How do you suppose I do that?" she asked. "I'm sure you'll think of something," JJ answered.

Xander stumbled into work looking hungover and disheveled. He was surprised to see a happy and healthy Philip sitting in a chair with his feet up on a desk. "Howdy partner," Philip said. He reminded Xander that they had to work together as brothers to save Titan.

"We may be blood, but you will never be my brother," Xander said. Philip didn't care and was ready to put their differences aside for the sake of their father's company. "It's just so hard to have a relationship with you when every time I see you I want to wring your neck," Xander added.

"Which is why I signed you up for an anger management course," Philip said, much to Xander's dismay. "Settle down. It's just a program our HR has done for years."

"What exactly makes you think that I need anger management?" Xander asked as he grabbed Philip by the collar. "You're kinda making my case for me now, aren't ya?" Philip earnestly asked.

Philip insisted on working in the same office as Xander and drove him crazy by doing his physical therapy stretching in his office. Johnny walked in on the scene. Xander assumed Johnny would have wanted the day off, but Johnny said he couldn't hide from the world forever.

Xander was also surprised to hear that they were going to all record a video stating there was no dissent in the ranks of their company. Xander didn't want to do it, but Philip talked him into it. Johnny directed them to act like they liked one another.

Philip and Xander continued their petty bickering to the point where Philip said he wasn't going to record the video right then and there. Xander asked to wait until after lunch. Johnny agreed and asked them to rehearse and work on getting along, at least for the camera.

When Johnny was gone, Xander mentioned how hard it was to work with someone who made his flesh crawl. "Well, there's one way to remedy that. You could quit," Philip stated.
