What happened on Days of our Lives

Sophia woke and realized that giving birth in her bedroom alone the night before wasn't just a dream. It really happened. When Amy called, Sophia told her that she was tired, but the baby was still kicking a lot. After Sophia hung up, she received another call and told the person that she would meet them at any time.
In Horton Town Square, Holly texted Tate to see if he wanted to meet up for coffee. Tate suddenly appeared behind her. "How about right here, right now?" he said. They sat down for coffee, and Tate asked if they could start over. Holly was hesitant, telling Tate that she might be going to college in France. Plus, a lot had changed since they had broken up.
"I have heard negative things about long-distance relationships. Do you really think we can make it work if we're starting from scratch?" she asked. "I'm willing to try if you are. It would be worth it. You are so worth it," Tate replied. He was willing to take things one step at a time, so Holly agreed.
Tate asked Holly on a date. When she accepted, he took her hand just as Sophia appeared. She spotted them and quickly walked away before they saw her.
Sophia ended up at the park, where she met with Melinda. Sophia broke down crying in Melinda's arms. Melinda promised to help Sophia, but asked her to tell her everything. Sophia explained how she watched a YouTube video that showed her how to give birth on her own, so that's what she did.
Melinda was floored that Sophia was able to deliver her baby on her own. "I don't know whether I should be impressed or horrified," Melinda marveled. Sophia broke down, imagining her baby crying at the fire station. Melinda reminded Sophia that she still had time to legally change her mind, but Sophia insisted that she did the right thing.
When Melinda suggested taking Sophia to a doctor, Sophia panicked. Melinda promised they would go to a clinic outside of town where nobody would recognize her. Melinda also promised Sophia she had a plan so that Tate and Amy wouldn't question what happened to the baby. When Sophia got home, she was wearing a fake pregnancy belly.
Back in the square, Holly asked Tate to join her for Senior Lake Week, but he couldn't because he thought that Sophia was too close to giving birth. He wanted to be there because he felt it would be his only chance to meet the baby. Finally, Tate decided to go with Holly because he thought he could get back in time if Sophia told him she was in labor.
When Holly got home and told Maggie she was back with Tate, her grandmother warned her that the baby could bond Tate to Sophia forever.
At the Hernandez house, Leo sang a lullaby for the newborn baby boy whom Javi brought home the night before. Leo clearly didn't get much sleep and begged the baby to stop crying so he could get his beauty rest. When Javi returned, Leo was surprised by how much baby gear he had just bought.
Javi assured Leo that the baby was only staying with them until social services could find him a permanent home. Both of them felt a growing affection for the newborn. "Poor little guy. Abandoned like that," Leo sighed.
Leo noted that Rafe was the official foster parent because he already had a license from when he fostered David. However, he wondered if social services would have an issue with Leo and Javi being the main caregivers. Javi assured him it was fine. Leo then revealed his affection for babies and told Javi he delivered Nicole's baby on the side of the road.
Javi said he wanted to give the baby a good start in life, but Leo wondered if this was a good start. "Maybe you and Rafe can," Leo said. Javi assured Leo that his checkered past didn't matter. Leo pointed out he didn't come from a big, loving family and wondered if he was the right caregiver for a baby.
Javi thought that Leo was caring and sweet with the baby, and didn't worry about Leo taking care of him at all. Javi then told Leo that he was getting his own foster credentials in case they needed to keep the baby longer than a few weeks.
When the baby was finally asleep, Leo and Javi admitted to each other that they liked being around babies even when they constantly cried. They decided to temporarily name the baby Tesoro, the Spanish word for treasure. After Leo took the baby to change his diaper, Javi opened his phone and stared at a photo of himself holding a bundle of pink.
Rachel was thrilled to see Sarah when she and Brady walked into the Brady Pub on the Fourth of July. Rachel was surprised to hear that she was Sarah's favorite patient because "Mom says I'm an acquired taste." Brady chimed in and told his daughter that she was an acquired taste because she was one of a kind. Sarah agreed.
Rachel asked Sarah if she and Xander were going to watch the fireworks together. Sarah just told her that Xander was busy. When Rachel went to the kitchen to help Roman make breakfast, Sarah asked if there was something wrong with Rachel, so Brady told her that Rachel saw Johnny threaten EJ with a gun. Brady asked her to keep it a secret.
"Poor kid. No wonder she's feeling so sick," Sarah said. Brady added, "God knows what else she witnessed while she was at the house of horrors." Brady knew that Sarah wasn't just talking about Rachel when she noted that kids need a sense of peace and stability.
Sarah admitted that the reason she tried to pass Victoria off as Rex's daughter was that she worried about what life would be like with Xander as a dad. "Because of who Xander is, and him not being able to keep that anger in control, it's the people he loves the most who end up getting hurt," Sarah said.
Brady gave Sarah some advice based on his own custody battles for Rachel. He urged Sarah to try to come to an agreement with Xander. "But look at us now. Kristen and I have found a way to move forward and be a team. All for Rachel's sake," he said. "If I had to do anything over again, I would focus on what worked for both of us, and I would do it a lot sooner. And I'd always put Rachel first."
Xander arrived at the Kiriakis estate with a stuffed dog for Victoria. Maggie told him that Victoria was afraid of dogs, something Xander was surprised to hear. Maggie told him it was a new fear, causing Xander to lament not being with his daughter every day. When he asked to see Victoria, Maggie told him no because she was napping.
Xander said that he would wait for her to wake, so Maggie agreed to let him stay. When Maggie tried to leave the room, Xander stopped her so they could get some things straight. He got in Maggie's face about not allowing Titan to buy the hospital, claiming her actions spit on Victor's legacy.
Maggie put Xander in his place. "Because you're Victoria's father and Victor's son, I could never give up on you. But let's get one thing straight. You will never question my loyalty to Victor or his legacy ever again. The future of Titan was all I was thinking about when I cast my vote last week. I voted for you, you jackass!"
A humble Xander apologized for assuming the worst and thanked Maggie for her vote. "But that doesn't change things between us. You are the same man who beat his brother to within an inch of his life," Maggie said. Xander claimed Philip said otherwise, but Maggie didn't believe Philip.
Maggie also advised Xander to try to get along with Sarah. "Separated or not, you can't be at each other's throats all the time. Victoria needs to have a stable home life," Maggie pointed out.
"And that's what I intend to give her once I am granted full custody," Xander stated. Maggie called Xander delusional and told him no judge would ever give him full custody. Xander reminded Maggie that Sarah had a habit of lying about things that might not sit well with a judge.
Maggie got frank with Xander. She told him that Sarah loved him more than she had ever loved anyone else. "If the love that you two shared was truly real, then you couldn't possibly take Sarah's daughter away from her," Maggie said. When they heard Victoria wake, Maggie allowed Xander to see her.
Later, when Xander was walking through Horton Town Square, he ran into Sarah. They shared a few awkward but civil moments. Xander said he would return the stuffed dog and buy a Teddy bear. "Anything to make my daughter happy," he smiled.
