On Days of our Lives today, Monday, September 8, 2025, Cat is caught red-handed, Gabi tries to cover her tracks, and Jennifer lashes out at Chad.
What Happened on Days of our Lives

At the Horton house, Jack and Jennifer quizzed Chad about Mark’s upcoming parole hearing. They were caught off guard by Chad’s disclosure that he hadn’t sent in a letter yet protesting Mark’s release. Chad initially claimed he had been too busy, but eventually admitted that he might not send the letter at all. Jennifer guessed Chad’s reticence had to do with Cat. Chad denied the allegation and called the situation “complicated.”
When Chad began defending Mark, both Jack and Jennifer lambasted him. Jack implored Chad to write the letter, for his kids and for Abigail. After Jennifer made a comment about Mark going free like his sister, Chad spoke up in defense of Cat, which angered Jennifer even more. She declared she would never forgive either of the siblings for how they had “desecrated” her daughter’s memory; the family didn't even have Abigail's remains. The tense argument was cut short by Thomas and Charlotte’s arrival.
Jack and Jennifer put on happy faces and chatted with the kids about their first day of school. Chad said he had an appointment and would give the kids quality time with their grandparents. Before Chad departed, Jack took him aside and suggested he think “long and hard” about what they’d discussed.
Once Charlotte went upstairs, Thomas told his grandparents about his first day in class with Rachel, who had already miffed the teacher by correcting her about a snake. Thomas then made mention of his and Chad’s mini golf outing. Jennifer and Jack were none too pleased to learn that Thomas and Chad had spent time with Cat and her family at the course. They suggested that Thomas go upstairs with Charlotte and prepare to go out for pizza later.
Immediately after they were alone, Jennifer harshly questioned if the meeting was truly coincidental. Jack tried to talk her down, but Jennifer insisted she didn’t want Cat anywhere near her grandchildren. She told Jack they needed to stay in town and keep an eye on Cat. On the staircase, Thomas overheard the last part of the exchange.
At the hospital, Cat was busted with EJ’s construction plans by Gwen, who asked what Cat was doing. Cat explained she had landed a job as EJ’s new assistant, and she had to follow up that she was trying to make a good impression when Gwen questioned why Cat had started the job early. Gwen said she was at the hospital for an appointment, then she went back to grilling Cat about the blueprints. Cat claimed she had knocked the blueprints over and had tried to get them back in order, but Gwen seemed unconvinced. Eager for a change of subject, Cat asked Gwen for pointers on getting on EJ’s good side.
Gwen talked about some of EJ’s quirks she’d learned while living with him: his need for punctuality, his preferred drinks, his dislike of strong perfumes, and his insistence that no one call him Elvis except for his “oddball mother.” Cat thanked Gwen for the advice and promised they’d meet up for lunch soon. Gwen took her leave, but not before wishing Cat good luck – because Cat would definitely need it.
Later, at Cat’s house, Cat made a call to Rafe and left a message about finding something in EJ’s office. She answered a knock at the door, and it was Chad. He came inside and apologized for leaving abruptly, explaining that he had to get to JJ’s birthday celebration. Cat was relieved Chad wasn’t angry with her, and she offered her own apology for pressuring Chad about her brother. Chad understood Cat’s drive to protect Mark, since he felt the same way about his family.
Chad did warn Cat about Jack and Jennifer’s letter to the parole board and its potential influence. She thanked him and felt even more grateful after he revealed he’d decided not to send a letter advocating against Mark’s release. Mark was important to Cat, and Cat was important to Chad. He wanted them all to move forward with their lives, and he expressed hope that one day his in-laws could understand.
At Titan-DiMera, Gabi panicked when she saw Xander’s office had been ransacked and realized the bug had been found.
At the park, Xander and Philip fretted about the listening device. Xander believed whoever had been looking into the Titan-DiMera merger had “stepped up" their game. He was paranoid about people in the park spying on them, but Philip urged his brother to keep his cool. He also chastised Xander for destroying the device, taking away their opportunity to use it to their advantage. Xander shocked Philip by once again turning down Philip’s offer to resign.
Xander remained steadfast that the only way for them to keep what belonged to them was to work together “as brothers.” The brothers strategized their next move, with the number one priority being discovering who had set the spying plan in motion. They bet on a DiMera’s involvement and theorized about a potential mole working at the company.
Later, Xander and Philip returned to the office to order a security sweep. Gabi arrived shortly thereafter and asked what was happening. Xander eyed her suspiciously and challenged, “You tell us.” Gabi acted stunned when the brothers informed her about the listening device, and she put on her offended act when both insinuated she could have been behind the planting of the bug. She reminded them how well they had all gotten along recently and claimed she had no reason to betray them.
Xander backed off after Philip said Gabi had sworn on Arianna’s life that she hadn’t filed the Freedom of Information request. Gabi promised she would keep an ear to the ground for rumblings of discontent from other employees. After Gabi left, Philip and Xander talked more about the incident. Then, Xander surprised his brother by inviting Philip to Victoria’s birthday party.
Gabi, meanwhile, left Tony a frantic phone message about Xander and Philip’s inquisition. She wanted his reassurance that they’d still be able to wrest control of the company and the DiMera legacy from the Kiriakis men.
At the DiMera mansion, EJ gave Rita orders over the phone about the new construction project at the hospital. He stressed the project must remain top-secret. After the call, Gabi barged into the room. The adversaries sniped at each other before EJ demanded to know why Gabi was there.
Gabi said she wanted to talk with Anna about a potential collaboration on a Gabi Chic project. The remark prompted a prolonged snarking session between EJ and Gabi about each other’s career mishaps. Before Gabi could take her leave, EJ announced he needed to discuss something with her. When EJ brought up Stefan, Gabi got indignant and declared her ex “dead to me.”
EJ thought it strange how no one had heard from Stefan but his “homicidal maniac” mother. Gabi questioned why EJ was suddenly so worried about a brother he despised. EJ reminded her that Stefan was “family.” Gabi scoffed and needled EJ about how he’d blown up all his relationships with his family and with Belle as well. She coldly advised him to “get a life” and then strutted out the door.
Later, Gwen arrived home to find EJ with a cocktail in hand. He updated her on Kristen’s sentencing, and she had her own update for him: namely, catching Cat with the hospital blueprints. “What the bloody hell are we going to do?” Gwen mused.
Gwen reminded EJ that she’d invested half the money in his hospital bid, and now their plans were in danger of going to waste. EJ stayed calm and assured Gwen that the blueprints Cat had found were unrelated to their efforts. With a sly smile, he pledged they’d pull one over on all of Salem. When the DiMera Free Clinic opened in November, the town would be blissfully ignorant about what Gwen and he truly had in store.
