On Days of our Lives, Holly's life has unraveled in recent weeks, mostly due to Sophia's continued underhanded tactics. At every turn, Sophia's need for self-preservation has led to increasingly desperate actions. Last week, things reached a tipping point after Sophia sniffed out Tate's attempt at seducing her to get information about their baby. She became a direct victim of Sophia's cruel intentions, not only spiking her drink with more alcohol, but also leaving her vulnerable to a fire that nearly killed her. However, after seeing inappropriate pictures that were sent to Johnny from her phone, Holly is ready to kiss Salem goodbye, and honestly, it may be her only option.

Holly's life is in ashes

To her credit, Holly (Ashley Puzemis) tried her best to make things work with Tate (Leo Howard), even after he had a baby with Sophia (Rachel Boyd). All of that good grace went out the window when she learned of his questionable tactics to extract information from Sophia. Unfortunately, his betrayal led to her need to "blow off steam" and drink with Ari in her dorm. Sophia took advantage of this and added far more alcohol to her drinks, ensuring Holly would pass out, so she could take nearly nude photos to send to Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman). Being unconscious almost proved fatal when a tipped candle lit her dorm ablaze, with Holly trapped inside. She survived, but now her life is in complete disarray.

While recovering from smoke inhalation in the hospital, Holly confirmed to Tate she couldn't get past what he did this time. Their relationship is over, but being single is the least of her problems. Not only is she facing a disciplinary committee because of drinking in her dorm, which led to the fire, but Johnny and Chanel (Raven Bowens) blindsided her with a confrontation about the photos.

Holly had no clue how the photos were taken and sent to him, but so far, she's chalking it up to drunken foolishness. Tuesday's episode concluded with Holly calling her mother, hinting that she's ready to depart Salem for good.

What's left for Holly in Salem?

Leaving her troubles behind her in Salem isn't necessarily the worst option for Holly right now. Her life is in ruins, and for the most part, the mistakes aren't her fault. However, there's a high probability she will be expelled from college because of her drinking. If she gets kicked out of school, there are only so many options left for her in Salem. Her integrity is also being questioned, stemming from the steamy photos sent to Johnny. Being branded as a liar and a menace might be too much for her to handle after already suffering a rocky road in the not-so-distant past.

She doesn't have to step away from Salem forever, but breathing room could be her best chance at recalibrating her life. It's a lot in a short period, and it is understandable that the overwhelming nature of everything would lead to a desire to flee and never look back. Unless everyone starts putting their heads together soon and seeing the massive elephant in the room (Sophia), it looks like she'll be in Paris shortly. Even if she doesn't get expelled from college, she would have to leave Johnny's class now, right? The level of discomfort in that situation has drastically spiked, and having prior feelings for Johnny isn't helping her case.

Sure, Holly can remain in Salem and fight tooth-and-nail to reclaim her reputation (the likely option), but with Sophia still in the mix, sabotage will always be in play. Stepping away for a while, seeing her mother, and getting a fresh perspective could help her return clearheaded and ready to dispel any falsehoods.
