Comings & Goings: Days of our Lives casts Tyler Joseph Andrews as Theo Carver

A familiar character is coming back to Days of our Lives with a new face! Actor Tyler Joseph Andrews has been cast as Theo Carver, Abe's son with the late Lexie. The actor is set to make his first appearance on the Peacock drama on Tuesday, September 9.

Theo dropped by Salem a little over two years ago when he visited Abe (James Reynolds), who was dealing with memory loss. Viewers learned earlier this summer that Theo and Claire (Isabel Durant) had split.

Andrews might be familiar to viewers who've seen his appearances in The Christmas Chain and A Heart Full of Hope. The actor will be making his soap opera debut playing Theo.

The character has ties to the DiMera clan as his late mother, Lexie (Renee Jones), was the daughter of Stefano DiMera (Joe Mascolo).

About four years ago, Theo moved to South Africa. Claire accepted a job and decided to join him there. As Theo and Claire have split, the character will likely be returning to Salem as a single man. Is there going to be a new romance in his future?

The write stuff

Theo was part of the drama on Days of our Lives before he was even born! Abe had plans to divorce Lexi because she had attempted to kidnap a child and pass that baby off as her and Abe's. Lexie became pregnant after she'd slept with Brandon Walker (Matt Cedeno), Abe's other son (though Lexie didn't know this at the time), but a test proved that Abe was the dad. They reconciled before Theo was born. In 2008, Theo was diagnosed with autism.

Theo was named after his late uncle, Theo Carver (Rusty Cundieff), who came to Salem in 1985 to investigate the murder of a close friend, Danny Grant (Roger Aaron Brown). Danny had been killed by an evil lawman, Richard Cates (Rod Arrants), who romanced Marlena (Deidre Hall).

In addition to acting, Andrews is also a writer. His scripting credits include the projects Glass Riches, The Color of Our Skin, Bonds of Blood, I'll Always Love You, Strange Encounters, and Shackled Haven.
