In just a few short weeks, Days of our Lives fans will have Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso back as Bo and Hope Brady. The last time they appeared on your Salem screens together was in 2023 when Hope discovered Bo was alive, only for their son, Shawn, to shoot Bo just hours later. Bo has been lingering in a coma ever since, but all that's about to change soon. Unfortunately, Reckell's return is only temporary.

Saturday, May 3, 2025, marked 42 years since Reckell made his debut as Roman and Kayla Brady's youngest brother, just home from a stint in the merchant marines. He immediately struck up a friendship with 17-year-old Hope Williams, and the rest is soap opera history.

As fans recalled Reckell's 1983 Days of our Lives debut with memories on X (formerly Twitter), the actor explained why he will not be back as Bo on a regular basis, for now.

Reckell quoted his own tweet from his DAYS anniversary back in 2018 and discussed his current status with the soap.

"Several of you responded by asking me to come back to DOOL," he wrote. "I would love to go back, the show just has to find room for me. Thanks so much for your continued support, it means a lot after all these years!!!"

A Days of our Lives legend is on his way home

When we do see Bo again — albeit for a short story arc — he will be barely clinging to life in a Greek hospital with Hope by his side. Hope will recall her 1985 wedding to Bo in England, where they were treated to a royal-style affair by a fictional version of Queen Elizabeth II.

Unlike Bo and Hope's last return that ended in angst, the couple is set to get their happily-ever-after. Fans expected a happy ending in 2023, but that was nixed by the powers that be. However, this time, Bo and Hope will make it back to Salem together with smiles on their faces. That must mean that Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Shawn (Brandon Beemer) manage to get their hands on that miracle cure for sepsis, but how do they do it? Stay tuned to find out.
