Daniel Cosgrove joins Days of our Lives

Three-soap vet Daniel Cosgrove is adding another show to his résumé. The two-time Daytime Emmy nominee has joined the cast of NBC's Days of our Lives in a newly created role. Cosgrove previously appeared on All My Children, As the World Turns, and Guiding Light.

Two-time Daytime Emmy nominee Daniel Cosgrove has joined the cast of Days of our Lives in the newly created role of Aiden. Though Cosgrove is a multi-soap vet, his role on DAYS will be a first for him.

"This is the first time that I've ever played a daytime character that wasn't played by someone else," Cosgrove told Soap Opera Digest.

Cosgrove first appeared on All My Children in 1996 in the role of Scott Chandler. Two years later, the actor left Pine Valley for a more prestigious zip code -- 90210. Cosgrove's stint on the FOX primetime soap Beverly Hills, 90210 also lasted two years.

From there, Cosgrove took a trip through two daytime drama series, the now-cancelled Guiding Light and As the World Turns. On Guiding Light, Cosgrove earned two Daytime Emmy nominations for his work as Bill Lewis. Shortly after Guiding Light's cancellation, Cosgrove took on the role of Christopher Hughes on ATWT. Cosgrove remained with As the World Turns through its final episode in September 2010.

Later that same year, Cosgrove rejoined All My Children. Like his stints on ATWT and GL, Cosgrove's time on AMC ended when the show aired its final episode in September 2011.

Hoping to put an end to his streak of unlucky Septembers, Cosgrove actually started work on Days of our Lives way back in September. As fans may know by now, Days of our Lives tapes episodes several months in advance of the show's airdate. That means that Cosgrove will first air in January 2014.
