A longtime dream comes true for DAYS' Jen Lilley

Days of our Lives' Jen Lilley (Theresa Donovan) has officially begun working on her latest passion project: her dream Christmas CD.

Days of our Lives' Jen Lilley (Theresa Donovan) has been busy in Salem, but that hasn't stopped the actress from chasing after one of her biggest dreams outside of acting: recording a holiday album.

Late last year, the actress told Soap Central that one of her goals for 2015 was to record a Christmas CD, and it looks like she made it happen. The actress posted a photo on Instagram with the following caption: "#BTS of our #capitolrecords session with LEGENDARY and iconic pianist #TomRainer and 7 time Grammy winning drummer #GreggField... in the exact studio where Frank and Dino recorded! Anyone who knows me knows I loooooove #FrankSinatra and #DeanMartin so this ranks top 2 coolest experiences of my life! If I didn't have photo evidence, I'd doubt it happened."

As fans may recall, Lilley and Eric Martsolf (Brady Black) released a holiday song last year, which she told Soap Central was the catalyst for this project. "One of my goals for the year was to record a Christmas CD, and that's how the song came about, and then it just became bigger and bigger and bigger," Lilley recalled of the snowball effect her and Martsolf's rendition of the classic tune Baby It's Cold Outside was able to achieve. "We recorded with Frank Sinatra's musicians, and once we got in the studio, they were like, 'Oh, we didn't realize you guys could really sing,' and Eric and I were like, 'Wait, what?' And then they said, 'Well, most actors think they can sing, but they can't,' which I didn't realize, and then they said they want to record two full albums with me next year."

It looks like this as-yet-untitled holiday album, due out later this year, is the first. And as for the second? "I'm thinking I'm going to do a 1940s album, because I love 1940s music," she said. "I would like to write original songs, but maybe I'm not at that skill level yet. Maybe I'll start studying that this year and aim for that next year. But we'll see."

Are you looking forward to Lilley's holiday album? What kind of music would you like to see the actress tackle for her second album, if there is one? Share your thoughts in the Comments section below, on our message boards, or by submitting Feedback.
