Tamara Braun is heading back to the role that won her her very first Daytime Emmy: Days of our Lives' supposedly dead Ava Vitali.

Two-time Daytime Emmy winner Tamara Braun is returning to Days of our Lives. The actress will be stepping back into the role of Ava Vitali. But wait... isn't Ava dead?

"Tamara Braun is coming back and that's important, not only for Steve and Kayla, but for her son, Tripp, and others to be determined," DAYS executive producer Ken Corday told Soap Opera Digest.

Braun has an extensive daytime résumé. She has appeared on three daytime dramas -- and has played five different roles. On ABC's General Hospital, Braun appeared as both Carly Corinthos and Kim Nero. Her work as Carly from 2001 to 2005 landed her two Daytime Emmy nominations. Earlier this year, Braun was awarded the Outstanding Supporting Actress trophy for her work as Kim. From 2008 to 2009, she portrayed Reese Williams on All My Children. During her time on AMC, her character was part of the first lesbian wedding in scripted daytime television history.

On DAYS, Braun originated the role of Ava Vitali in February 2008. She remained with the show for a year before exiting. She returned for another stint that ran from 2015 to 2016, which ended with Ava apparently being smothered to death. In between her DAYS stints as Ava, Braun briefly took on the role of Taylor Walker in 2011. Braun won her first Daytime Emmy in 2009 in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category.

Exactly when Braun will appear on-screen has not yet been revealed. Days of our Lives returned to production earlier this week after production was suspended in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
