It's time for the 2020 Daytime Emmys! This is Soap Central's guide to find out where to watch, who's nominated, and everything else you need to know about the 47th Annual Daytime Emmys.
The 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were supposed to be bigger than ever -- a three-day ceremony, a new broadcast home, and lots of celebration and sparkle. As we know now, 2020 had other ideas, and many things have had to change. Among all that change, we have seen some glimmers of hope and renewal. We hope that you'll follow along with Soap Central as we cover daytime's biggest night here on our web site, soapcentral.com, and on our social media feeds on Facebook, Twitter (@soapcentral), and Instagram (@thesoapcentral).
For the first time in nearly a decade, the Daytime Emmys will be broadcast on network television. The ceremony will air tonight (8:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on CBS. If you are unable to watch the ceremony live or you forget to set your DVR, the entire ceremony will be available on the CBS web site and CBS All Access for 30 days. For more information about how to watch the ceremony, please read our article Daytime Emmy ceremony to be broadcast in June -- in primetime on CBS, originally posted on May 20.
The Daytime Emmys ceremony will be held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic, so all of the nominees and winners will be hanging out in their homes. Because technology happens -- as do glitches, bugs, and booboos -- the ceremony has been prerecorded. Do not for one second think that means that there will be no suspense. No one knows who has actually won an Emmy, and the winners won't be revealed -- even to the winners -- until the live broadcast. How is that possible? Check out our article Stars have pre-taped their Daytime Emmy Award acceptance speeches; greatest Emmy moments segment planned for broadcast for all the details.
With the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences originally postponing the Emmy ceremony indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic, the announcement of the Daytime Emmy nominations sort of drifted off the radar. It wasn't until the day before the nominations were to be revealed that fans even knew that the nominations were going to be announced. Confused? Don't be. Soap Central has posted an entire list of nominations in all the Drama Series and Digital Drama Series categories. Now you can find out if actors from your favorite soap will be up for Emmy gold on daytime's biggest night.

In case you were wondering, NATAS did away with the pre-nominations this year in all of the Daytime Drama Series acting categories. Also, the Outstanding Younger Actor category has not been left off our list. This year, NATAS decided to combine the Younger Actor and Younger Actress categories into a single category due to the declining number of eligible performers in those categories. It was one of a series of changes that was announced in November 2019. In an ironic twist of fate, all of the nominees in the newly minted Younger Performer category identify as female.
Sadly, there will be no Red Carpet this year. Not even a virtual one. If, however, you are missing the glitz and the glamour or just want to check out some of our many interviews from years past, you can check out all of our interviews dating back to 2011 on our YouTube channel. Here are a few of the most-watched interviews from years past.
2019: Maura West (Ava Jerome, General Hospital)
2018: Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester, The Bold and the Beautiful)
2018: Linsey Godfrey (Caroline Spencer, The Bold and the Beautiful; now Sarah Horton, Days of our Lives)
2013: Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall, General Hospital)
