Among these thriller movies, this one ought to play with your mind on a deep level. Derived from a true story, it is a journey of how two men discover friendship during a covert operation. It is graced with internal conflict and skepticism, mixed with the very human feeling of allyship and closeness.

In this unexpected friendship, one of them suspects the other of his alleged involvement in child kidnapping. As the story progresses, we witness how the truth impacts their bond. In the entire film, there is a heavy fog of apprehension where both of the conflicting interests-the urgent motive versus the silent bond of friendship that is forming-are brimming at the surface. The film stars Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris as the leads.


2) The Occupant (2020, dir. David Pastor and Àlex Pastor)

Starring Javier Gutiérrez in the lead, this Spanish thriller follows the plot of how an unfortunate turn of events makes someone lose themselves in the quest to re-establish their socio-economic status. In the film, Javier Muñoz, who suddenly gets laid off from work, also ends up losing his plush residence. As a result, he and his family are compelled to shift to a smaller house and settle for substandard living conditions.

However, new people have made Javier's old house their home, and Javier struggles to digest this fact. As a result, reclaiming his old life, opulence, and his flat back, Javier now spirals into this revengeful rampage to sabotage the people living in the house. His desperate and bizarre attempts to cause havoc in their lives are bound to send chills down your spine.


3) The Call (2020, dir. Lee Chung-hyun)

It is a gripping story of two women, Kim Seo-yeon and Oh Young-sook, who begin talking to each other over the telephone. But here is the twist: both these women belong to different timelines. Kim Seo-yeon is a young woman who is living in the year 2019, whereas Oh Young-sook, who resides in the same house, is living in the year 1999.

They both share a common trauma, a mother wound, as they have difficult relationships with their respective mothers. As the story progresses, several dark truths and twists are revealed. The film stars Park Shin-hye and Jeon Jong-seo as the leads.


4) The Perfection (2018, dir. Richard Shepard)

Rooted in themes in relation to vengeance and exploitation, the film follows the plot of how a gifted Cello player named Charlotte seeks revenge and retribution through a student named Lizzie.

Charlotte has been a survivor of systemic abuse and exploitation in her educational setting. She later uncovers the disturbing truths involving a sex cult run by the influential head of her music school, Anton. However, in order to know what lies in the fate of these characters, one must watch the film!

The film stars Allison Williams, Logan Browning, Steven Weber, and many more.


5) Copycat (1995, dir. Jon Amiel)

And lastly, who can forget the 90s classic Copycat in this list of thriller movies? It stars Sigourney Weaver, Holly Hunter, Dermot Mulroney, and many others.

The film follows the plot of a criminal psychologist, Dr. Helen Hudson, who is grappling with the trauma of being attacked by a criminal. As a result, Hudson begins suffering from agoraphobia. However, Hudson continues working to uncover the truth of the murderer who attacked her. She joins a team of people in the discovery and comes to know that this criminal copies the murderous tactics of famous serial killers, and hence is called a 'Copycat' killer.

This film ticks the boxes of how sharp thriller movies are made. It is edgy, slick, and horrifying. The characters in the film are well-written and do not comply with any tired, worn-out quips.
