Disney's Freakier Friday, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, has been recently showcased to the film press community, as reported by Variety. Its theatrical release will take place on 8th August 2025.

Helmed by Nisha Ganatra, this film marks the seventh film in the Freaky Friday franchise. However this film is a continuation of the 2003 film in the series, which stars Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Upon its screening, heaps of praise for the film poured in from several media personalities. One of the comments on X by reporter Brandon Davis gives an insight into what we could expect in the film. He also lauds the performance of Jamie Lee Curtis, as he tweets:

#FreakierFriday is great. I was howling.
“Jamie Lee Curtis is having the time of her life and it’s a blast to watch,”
“It’s silly and sometimes confusing but hilarious throughout, even touching at times. Absolutely some of the most fun I’ve had watching a movie this year.”

Let us find out more about the various early reactions to Freakier Friday.

Freakier Friday seems to be "double the fun and twice the sweetness as the original", as per the early reactions

As per reports in Variety, a plethora of early reviews of Freakier Friday from several entertainment journalists have been dropped after its screening to the film press.

Variety's Senior Artisans Editor, Jazz Tangcay, takes to X and writes about how she felt after watching the film. Tangcay also commends the performances of actors Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan and Manny Jacinto in the film, as she tweets:

#freakierFriday is an absolute riot! I laughed and I cried. It’s such a great feel-good film. Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis deliver hilarity and emotion in this funtastic sequel. I never knew I needed this film! Oh and Manny Jacinto, I love him.

On a similar note, the Emmy-nominated TV host Jeff Conway reminisces about the history of the franchise. He writes that even after 22 years since the 2003 film came out, the magic of the Freaky Friday world still does not die out in its sequel in 2025. Lohan and Lee Curtis' performances have again been appreciated, as Conway writes while tagging Lindsay Lohan at the end with a 'hands shaped as heart' and a 'clap' emoji:

FREAKIER FRIDAY is double the fun and twice the sweetness as the original!
These 22 years later, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis haven’t missed a beat! Their on-screen chemistry is truly something special.
A true delight that the entire family will enjoy

Looking at these zestful comments on the film, we can totally expect that this film will undoubtedly take us on a hilarious ride. Apart from the incredible performances of the actors, an important point to note is that the latest film in the franchise keeps the magic and charm intact that they had created in the 2003 film.

In Freakier Friday, it looks like the mother-duo are again going to experience the swapping of bodies and identities. But this time, it gets messier (and 'freakier') as new family members get added to this whole fiasco!

Its synopsis, as per IMDb, goes as:

22 years after Tess and Anna endured an identity crisis, Anna now has a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might strike twice.
