Big news for DCEU fans - James Gunn recently confirmed that the new Wonder Woman movie is in the works and is "being written right now." Ahead of the release of Superman starring David Corenswet, this announcement gives fans something new to look forward to and reinstills faith that the future of female-led DCEU movies is safe in the hands of James Gunn.
In an earnings call with investors back in May, David Zaslav, the head of Warner Bros. Discovery, listed Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Supergirl as key characters in the DC superhero universe. He stated that James Gunn and Peter Safran were working towards building these characters and developing their stories further across film and TV.
Now, with James Gunn confirming that the new Wonder Woman movie is in the works, fans of the Princess of the Amazons can be sure that the character's fate is in good hands.

Gal Gadot will not be returning as Wonder Woman in the new movie currently being written
Gal Gadot took over the role of Wonder Woman back in 2016, when she first made her appearance in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Fans loved her portrayal of the Amazonian princess and naturally, her standalone movie that was released in 2017 was a grand hit. She even reprised her role for Wonder Woman 1984 in 2020, and was slated to return for a third movie in the franchise, with Patty Jenkins in the director's seat. However, this plan was shelved when James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the roles of co-CEOs and co-Chairmen at DC Studios.
Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill shared the same fate in this aspect, as despite being well-loved by the fans, Cavill will not appear in the titular role in the upcoming Superman movie.
While this is somewhat disappointing for the fans since they appreciated Gadot's portrayal of the character, it is a better fate for the Amazonian princess than not having a Wonder Woman movie at all.
