In the interview, the actor talks about the film by mentioning:

"As much as the longform storytelling was a whole different ballgame to play in, it's really fun to reduce it down and condense the timeline and therefore the tension."

Let us find out what more John Krasinski talks about the forthcoming Jack Ryan film.

"We were so excited to do a movie", says John Krasinski about the new Jack Ryan film

In an interview with Collider, John Krasinski has shed light on how the forthcoming Jack Ryan film stands apart from the TV series. The actor mentions by stating:

"We were so excited to do a movie. As much as the longform storytelling was a whole different ballgame to play in, it's really fun to reduce it down and condense the timeline and therefore the tension. So, we're getting to do all the big fun action movie stuff that we didn't get to do in a television show."

Back in 2024, it was announced that John Krasinski would be back in the role for a movie, after the TV series ended in the year 2023 with Season 4. The TV series follows the plot of a CIA analyst who has a past serving as a Marine officer, as he navigates the scheming world of terrorism in order to protect his country.

Amazon MGM Studios shall be handling the distribution of the film, thus continuing their association with the 'Ryanverse'. Along with Amazon, production companies Paramount Television and Skydance Landmark are also to resume their association with the 'Ryanverse' by backing the film. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Sunday Night Productions have also joined hands to produce the film.

The upcoming film of Krasinski will resume the TV series with its big-screen version. The helmer and executive producer of Season 2 of the series, Andrew Bernstein, is directing the film. The script of the film is jointly penned by Aaron Rabin and Krasinski.

Along with John Krasinski, the OG cast members from the TV series, including Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly, will be back to join the film. Some of the new cast members include Sienna Miller, Douglas Hodge, Betty Gabriel, and JJ Feild.

The series is derived from author Tom Clancy's books on Jack Ryan, which began from the year 1984. This is not the first film to adapt the character of Jack Ryan in films, as previously, several actors, including Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine, have portrayed the role of Ryan as well.

Here is the list of all the Jack Ryan films over the years:

  • The Hunt for Red October (1990)
  • Patriot Games (1992)
  • Clear and Present Danger (1994)
  • The Sum of All Fears (2002)
  • Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014)

Along with this film, John Krasinski is also starring in Guy Ritchie's Fountain of Youth, opposite Natalie Portman. The film shall make its release on Apple TV+ on 23rd May 2025.
