Disney is sweeping the floor to keep its 2026 release slate clean. Marvel films were pushed back as the company announced that Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars now have new release dates. Joining them are three more MCU films, which currently have neither a title nor a release date. These mystery projects were originally slated for release on February 13, 2026, November 6, 2026, and November 5, 2027.
That leaves us with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which came as a shocker when it was announced, and Avengers: Doomsday, a film that has been generating considerable buzz and speculation online, for next year.
We have five more films on the roster without a release date, but they are confirmed projects. They are Armor Wars, Black Panther 3, Blade, a Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings sequel, and an X-Men film. These are most likely part of the post-Phase Six era.
Marvel recently began putting emphasis on quality again

Is this the result of the studio being more attentive to the quality of their films? Because Thunderbolts (it doesn’t really need an asterisk anymore), aka The New Avengers, was cited as an “example” of this shift by Disney boss Bob Iger himself. During a financial call, he said:
"We’ve also learned over time that quantity does not necessarily beget quality. And frankly, we’ve all admitted to ourselves that we lost a little focus by making too much. By consolidating a bit and having Marvel focus much more on their films, we believe that will result in better quality. I think the first and best example is Thunderbolts*. I feel very good about that."
Outlets like The Independent have compared the movie with The Marvels and The Incredible Hulk—both commercial disappointments with lifetime earnings of $265 million and $199 million, respectively. We’d like to add that Jake Schreier’s film is only around three weeks into its release and has already earned $332 million globally.
If Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars have been delayed, it may be a sign that they doesn’t want to compromise on the quality of such large-scale films. These movies are expected to surpass Infinity War and Endgame, so a slight delay shouldn’t hurt.
Twenty-seven actors have already been officially announced for Doomsday, and rumors of more are keeping netizens busy. Of course, we should take every rumor with a grain of salt.
Does that mean Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars lost some content?

If these untitled films were supposed to be released between February 2026 and November 2027, at least two of them might be connected to the upcoming Avengers films. That suggests they could have been part of Phase Six, as Secret Warsis set to conclude the Multiverse Saga.
In addition, these untitled films have now become mystery projects. It’s possible they will reintroduce them later, just as it did with Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Whatever happens, we should now reprogram our minds and eject the dates May 1, 2026, and May 7, 2027, from our calendars—and replace them with December 18, 2026 (Doomsday) and December 17, 2027 (Secret Wars).
