Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan died on Thursday, July 24, 2025. On the same day, Governor Ron DeSantis was delivering a heartfelt tribute to the legend at a press conference when an unknown heckler disrupted it.

While the Governor spoke about Hogan’s impact on Gen X and his own childhood memories of watching WrestleMania and Rocky III, just minutes after, a heckler interrupted and began shouting ''Alligator Alcatraz.''

For context, Alligator Alcatraz is a migrant detention camp in the Everglades built under the leadership of Governor Ron DeSantis in mid-2025. The facility was criticized for its poor sanitation, overcrowded tents, and limited medical care.

More about what the heckler said during the press event on Hulk Hogan’s death

As the press event began and the Governor was paying his tribute to Hulk, three minutes into his remarks, a protester interrupted and started yelling, "Alligator Alcatraz." The Governor then asked him to stop, but the heckler continued. As per reports by The Daily Beast, he said:

''Is that your f---ing legacy? You bowed down to a f---ing pedophile! You’re a f---ing pedophile.''

He then also called DeSantis and Trump ''Nazis.'' As the security led him away, he yelled ''F--- you all!.''

Speaking of Hulk Hogan, the governor said:

''I was sad to see the news that Hulk Hogan passed away today. He was a major icon for anybody in Gen X....You know, back then, when they would do these big events like WrestleMania, you could go to it … they didn’t even have pay-per-view. ... It was closed-circuit.''

The facility, nicknamed Alligator Alcatraz, opened on July 1, 2025, and allegations that the facility was inhumane have been circulating on the internet recently. Critics and the media gave the facility the nickname due to its remote location and prison-like atmosphere.

The wrestling legend, whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea, died in the early hours of Thursday. The police and fire personnel were dispatched to Bollea’s home after reports of him suffering a cardiac arrest came in. The fire and rescue crews arrived and were trying to treat him while he was being transported to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Hulk was best known for his work with WWE and World Championship Wrestling. His family made a statement on social media following his death:

''It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we confirm we have lost a legend. May we all take solace in the wonderful memories he left behind for the millions of fans worldwide whose lives he touched for more than four decades.''

Hulk is survived by his wife, Sky Daily, and his two children, Brooke and Nick.
