BAFTA Games Awards Longlist 2026: Complete contenders list explored

The BAFTA Games Awards longlist for 2026 has been officially unveiled. The longlist features 64 games chosen from 255 eligible releases. It offers a look at the projects that caught the attention of more than 1,700 BAFTA members.

The categories will be narrowed down into formal nominations in March 2026. This year's British Academy of Film and Television Arts Games Awards longlist is notable for the diversity of games and studios involved. Relatively new companies have been chosen alongside global franchises.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Games Awards have been held annually since 2004. The 2026 longlist draws from titles released between November 16, 2024, and November 14, 2025, following the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' eligibility guidelines. This includes episodic indie releases, sequels, and more. Categories cover notable areas such as design, animation, narrative, technical aspects, and more.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts took to its official Instagram page to announce that,

Let us know in the comments ⬇️ 🗓️ 2026 BAFTA Games Awards nominations will be announced on Thursday 12 March."

BAFTA also released an official press release, stating:

"BAFTA today announces the longlist for the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards. 64 games have been selected by more than 1,700 BAFTA members, who are experienced games professionals working in the industry. The BAFTA Games Awards are the industry’s most prestigious Awards, founded in 2004 to celebrate creative excellence in video games and the people who make them, as voted by their peers."

It also added:

"255 games were considered by BAFTA members this year, released between 16 November 2024 and 14 November 2025. Each of the 64 longlisted games is now in the running for at least one BAFTA nomination across 17 categories. BAFTA members will begin voting for the nominations in Best Game and British Game categories in February 2026, with specialist BAFTA juries voting for the remaining categories.

"Following the nominations announcement on 12 March, BAFTA members will then vote for the winners in Best Game and British Game and BAFTA juries will vote for the winners in all other categories. The winners will be announced at the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards on Friday 17 April."
