Shortly after the new Avengers are introduced in Thunderbolts*, Chris Hemsworth shares a heartwarming note for his iconic Avengers character. Thor has been an integral part of the MCU's first team-up of Avengers, and it would be impossible to imagine this universe without his presence. Hemsworth presented this character with intensity and charm that fit into the character's godly status. That's why his fans cannot picture anyone but him in this role.

Soon, Hemsworth will reprise this role in Avengers: Doomsday, set for a 2026 release. So, ahead of its release schedule, the Australian actor has shared a note of gratitude on his YouTube channel. It reads,

"Playing Thor has been one of the greatest honors of my life. For the last 15 years I've held Mjolnir and then Stormbreaker as the God of Thunder, but what made it truly special…was sharing it with all of you. Your passion, your cheers, and your love for this character have meant everything to me."

Hemsworth has attached it to a heartwarming 2-minute clip that takes us through his MCU journey since before he joined it in 2011.

In 2011, Kenneth Branagh's directorial introduced Chris Hemsworth as Thor, an extraterrestrial superhero from Asgard who fights his corrupt brother to take over the throne. Hemsworth was considered for this role in 2009, and the latest clip on his YouTube channel reveals a snippet from his audition. In that brief clip, Hemsworth reads one of Thor's dialogues,

"This world is my punishment. It's my punishment for my endless pursuit of glory."

Marvel boss Kevin Feige was looking for the perfect candidate for this role. It was one of the earliest projects in the MCU. So, Feige's team was looking for someone who had the chops to present that charismatic character. At the time, Chris Hemsworth's audition caught his eye. Hemsworth's imposing narration proved that this was the kind of acting talent they wanted for the MCU.

In line with this, Feige said,

"One of the early decisions we made at the Marvel Studios was bringing on Thor. We always knew we wanted to find an amazing performer who had the chops to perform this character as we saw him. We looked the world over and we found Chris Hemsworth. The way Chris did it, we thought, 'Okay, this is going to work.'"

Along with Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman joined the cast as Jane, a scientist and Thor's love interest. She also looks back at their journey together and reveals what impressed her about her co-star.

"It's just impressive to watch him work. He is so committed and works so hard. He has such incredible comedic talent as well."

Tessa Thompson, who joined the cast of the third and fourth chapters, has nothing but good things to say about Hemsworth.

"It really is inspiring because he is brave enough to try new things and see what sticks."

After Kenneth Branagh (who directed the first part) and Alan Taylor (who directed the sequel), Jojo Rabbit director Taika Waititi took over the reins for the next two chapters and brought the kind of self-aware humor that Deadpool movies are often known for. When asked about Hemsworth's work, Waititi added,

"When it came to [Thor:] Ragnarok, I basically just said, 'Look, you gotta be more of yourself to make the character more relatable and funny.'"

Chris Hemsworth will soon return as Thor in the MCU's Avengers: Doomsday, expected to come out in 2026.
