Orlando Bloom has recently opened up about portraying Legolas, his iconic character from the Lord of the Rings film series, at the AwesomeCon event held by ScreenRant.
Bloom was invited to a panel discussion, along with the other actors of the OG film franchise. In the interview, Orlando Bloom mentions his feelings about portraying Legolas, as he says:
"Being in that headspace of Legolas is awesome."
Let us find out what more Orlando Bloom shares about returning as Legolas in The Lord of the Rings.
"Such a cool feeling": Orlando Bloom opens up about playing Legolas again in The Lord of the Rings
Orlando Bloom had portrayed the role of Legolas, an elf prince in the Woodland Realm. His father, Thranduil, is the ruler of the land. Legolas is one of the associates belonging to the Fellowship who are on the quest to demolish the One Ring.
The Lord of the Rings film franchise (2001-2003) is based on J.R.R. Tolkien's epic novel The Lord of the Rings (1954, 1955). The films have been helmed by Peter Jackson. Orlando Bloom, as Legolas, had also starred in The Hobbit film series (2013, 2014).
At the AwesomeCon event by ScreenRant, Bloom talked about his character by mentioning:
"I always think that if Pete says "Jump," I say, "How high?" It's funny because I think the elves go through so much of this world so many times because they're ageless,"
He also further talked about his experiences working in the two different film series, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, as he added:
"I was in The Hobbit, and it was really interesting revisiting the world. It was so different from Rings as an experience. It was a beautiful time, but this idea of kind of going back is like... "Absolutely, who wouldn't want to go back to that place?"
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor also talked about how he would feel about playing Legolas again. He did mention the fact that the enchantment that the film series carries would not be created again in the same fashion, as he elucidated:
"But, of course, the magic of that moment is not something that could ever be repeated. The time, the age, the place that we were at; the place that the universe, the world, the planet was at, is impossible to recreate. But I think the idea of playing these characters? Being in that headspace of Legolas is awesome. My ADHD is gone; I am focused. And that's something that I would always embrace because it's this crazy, meditative state of being all-knowing and all-seeing, which is such a cool feeling."
Along with Orlando Bloom, actors including Elijah Wood, Sean Bean, Viggo Mortensen, Liv Tyler, Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, Andy Serkis, and Christopher Lee have also been in the cast of The Lord of the Rings film series.
In fact, one of the cast members, Andy Serkis, will be helming the upcoming film of the series, The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. He shall be essaying his character from the series Gollum as well. The film is expected to make its release in December 2027.
The last release of Orlando Bloom was the 2024 film The Cut. The forthcoming releases of the actor include Tom Kingsley's Deep Cover, David Michôd's Wizards!, and Werner Herzog's Bucking Fastard.
