"Big L has a long history with @Nas as they both signed to Columbia in 1992. This is a full circle moment and we are excited for y’all to hear what we’ve been working on. As some of you may have noticed, many Big L songs have been removed from streaming services over the past few years."

The statement continues:

"Those songs were unmixed/unmastered, samples were not cleared and many of the producers weren’t paid or credited properly. Thanks to the team at @MassAppeal we will be re-releasing the best versions of these songs, rare freestyles and a few surprises..."

The rapper's posthumous album is currently available for pre-order from iTunes and is available on Spotify and Amazon Music. It is also available via Mass Appeal's website. At the website, the album is priced between $9.99 - $25, depending on the format of the album.

Big L's work has mostly been released posthumously

Before he died tragically in a drive-by shooting, the rapper was a notable figure in the American music scene. A profoundly talented rapper, he was well noted for his lyricism and wordplay.

The now late rapper released his debut album, Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous, in 1995, after spending five years writing demos and songs. The album was well received by critics and received minor success on the charts. Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous is the only album that Big L released on his own.

He was killed just a few years after the release of the album. His second album, The Big Picture, was released posthumously in 2000. The release of the album was delayed due to the singer's death.

The late rapper's third studio album, 139 & Lenox, came out posthumously in 2010. The album was followed by the fourth album, The Danger Zone, in 2011. Big L has been influential in the creation of what is known as the horrorcore genre, a subgenre of hip hop music.
