Black Panther star Letitia Wright teases a recasting for T’Challa in the MCU

Our own Black Panther star Letitia Wright’s recent statement hints at the possibility of the recasting of T’Challa in the MCU.

In an interview with ScreenRant, when the actor was asked about the ongoing speculations regarding the recast, she responded by saying:

"I love the way the Marvel universe just expands and twists and turns, and it's just one of those twists and turns, and let's see what happens."

Wright is iconic for her portrayal of Shuri in a number of MCU films, including Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Shuri’s brother, T’Challa, has so far been portrayed by Chadwick Boseman.

Black Panther star Letitia Wright drops hints regarding the recast of T'Challa

In a conversation with Liam Crowley from ScreenRant, Letitia Wright spilled some beans and stirred some buzz.

When asked about the rumored recast of King T'Challa in the MCU, here’s the full quote of the MCU star’s response:

"I love stories. I love the way the Marvel universe just expands and twists and turns, and it's just one of those twists and turns, and let's see what happens. I am just excited about it. I'm excited about the growth of this franchise. I love this franchise so, so much. Yeah, you just have to come to the cinemas, Liam."

Furthermore, Letitia Wright was asked about the much-anticipated Black Panther 3. Wright, who is also starring in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday as Shuri a.k.a. Black Panther, also ends up mentioning another forthcoming MCU film: Secret Wars. Here’s what she says:

"I have no clue. All I know is that we just finished Secret Wars, and that was really great. Doomsday, sorry. I confuse the two. I confused the two. That's what I have to film next, Secret Wars. But Doomsday, we finished that, and that was very great."

The Surrounded star also shared her feelings about portraying such a celebrated superhero. She mentions that she is anticipating seeing how Shuri's expansion evolves in the future of the MCU, as she says:

"Always. Always. It's an honor, but it's also a tribute and a legacy for all that we've done in the first films, and I carry my brother every time. It's a big, big, huge honor for me. I'm excited for the growth of Shuri to be seen in these next few films."

Letitia Wright, after winning hearts with her acting chops, has now embarked on a journey as a filmmaker as well. Produced and penned by her, Highway to the Moon is a short film that serves as her directorial debut.

There has been no official confirmation from the MCU regarding the recast of T’Challa in the future.
