Ethan Hawke as The Grabber is back in the horror sequel, Black Phone 2
In the newly dropped trailer of Black Phone 2, we catch glimpses of Ethan Hawke as The Grabber.
In the trailer, we witness The Grabber creating havoc in the lives of Finney and his sister, Gwen, once again. There are chilling scenes, such as Finney being seen with the classic black coloured telephone inside a phone booth, and The Grabber is lurking outside the booth. The Grabber utters in the most eerie way possible:
"Hello Finney. Did you think our story was over?"
Finney, seething with rage, then responds:
"You are dead".
Upon which, The Grabber says:
"You, of all people".
And then he delivers the most chilling lines of all, which is also the tag line of the film, as he utters:
"Know that dead is just a word."
We also witness scenes of The Grabber strangling Gwen inside the phone booth, and also the killer in snowy regions. Towards the end, we shall witness Ethan Hawke's The Grabber partially brutally unmasking himself.
In the aftermath of the events in Black Phone, the sequel follows the plot of Gwen, who experiences nightmares where she foreshadows an impending danger caused by The Grabber at a camp in the snow-laden winter.
The synopsis of Black Phone 2, as per the official website of the film, goes as follows:
"As Finn, now 17, struggles with life after his captivity, the headstrong 15-year-old Gwen begins receiving calls in her dreams from the black phone and seeing disturbing visions of three boys being stalked at a winter camp known as Alpine Lake.
Determined to solve the mystery and end the torment for both her and her brother, Gwen persuades Finn to visit the camp during a winter storm. There, she uncovers a shattering intersection between The Grabber and her own family’s history. Together, she and Finn must confront a killer who has grown more powerful in death and more significant to them than either could imagine."
The film shall also see the return of Jeremy Davies as the sibling duo's father, Terrence. Along with the old cast members, the film shall also star new cast members, including Arianna Rivas, Demián Bichir, Miguel Mora, Graham Abbey, Anna Lore, and Maev Beaty.
This feature, too, shall be penned by the writers of the OG film, C. Robert Cargill, along with the helmer himself, Scott Derrickson. Black Phone 2 shall come to the theatres on 17th October, 2025.
