Bride Hard: Rebel Wilson's latest action comedy bags disappointing numbers on RT shortly after premiere

Bride Hard is an action comedy film that was released on June 20, 2025, by Magenta Line Studios. The film is directed by Simon West; Shaina Steinberg and CeCe Pleasants Adams have written the screenplay from a story by Steinberg. Here's the official synopsis:

Rebel Wilson's Bride Hard gets an unimpressive RT rating

Bride Hard marks the reunion of two cast members from the comedy film franchise Pitch Perfect. Hence, the hype was already there. However, the film apparently did not live up to critics' expectations. It has a 25% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 12 critical reviews. It only has three fresh reviews, which range from mixed to positive.

The rotten reviews have given mostly disappointing feedback. The negative reviews might hamper the film's commercial prospects. Films like 28 Years Later and Elio have also hit the screen, giving viewers more options to choose from.

Bride Hard is a comedic take on Bruce Willis' Die Hard and follows Sam, who is a secret agent. She attends the wedding of her best friend as maid of honor. However, things take a turn when mercenaries attack and take everyone hostage. The film mixes action with comedy, with an obvious homage to Die Hard. It's produced by Cassian Elwes, Max Osswald, Colleen Camp, and Jason Ross Jallet.

Rebel Wilson spoke to THR about reuniting with her Pitch Perfect co-star Anna Camp in Bride Hard:

“I love Anna, I think she’s one of the world’s best actresses — she can do anything, if you’ve seen her recently in You or Hysteria!, she’s so multitalented. This movie required a girl squad so I was like, ‘Yeah, bring in Anna Camp.’ She could play any role; she decided she wanted to be the bride and so we play besties yet again.”

Wilson then went on to talk about her tryst with the action genre:

“Obviously I’m not a serious action person, I’m not going to be in the John Wick franchise, but I feel like action comedy maybe there’s a few roles coming up in that space which would be really fun.”
