Catherine Zeta-Jones is going to celebrate her silver anniversary with her husband, Michael Douglas, and she can't stop gushing over it. The power couple will complete 25 years of marriage later this year in November, and ahead of their big milestone, Catherine reflected on their family life in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
While playfully joking about the big milestone, Catherine Zeta-Jones also shed light on the couple's biggest achievement in their time together, where she said:
"And they said it'd never last! I think that what we've accomplished, and I think both of us will say the same, I'm not speaking just for myself, is our children are truly wonderful. The joy they bring us, and now they've flown the nest, the joy that we have together."
Catherine and Michael are the parents of two children, and the actress has stated that they are the biggest source of happiness in the world. While shedding light on the strong familial bond, the actress also divulged plans for celebration around the holiday season to mark their 25th anniversary.
Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas - a brief history
It was at the Deauville Film Festival in France in 1998 that Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas' paths first crossed. Douglas finally succeeded in winning the heart of Catherine, and the two got into a whirlwind relationship that led to their November 2000 marriage.
Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas have two children together: Dylan (24) and Carys (22). The two have a close family, and they post a lot of photographs of their children on social media. According to reports, their children still enjoy being with them, as has been mentioned by Michael in previous interviews.
The two have been through their share of troubles together, and they also briefly separated in 2013. Catherine offered her assistance to Michael when he was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2010, and he reciprocated when she was diagnosed of having bipolar II disorder a year later. The two have stood together regardless of the adversities they have faced and have always supported one another to date.
In the past, Catherine Zeta-Jones has also shed light on the reasons that have worked in their favor. In an interview with WSJ Magazine, she was quoted as saying:
"First of all, we have a lot of fun together. My husband is 25 years older than me; that's not a secret. With any relationship, it wouldn't be normal if there weren't any ups and downs," she said. "The constant is love and respect. We've never, ever lost our sense of humor, and we enjoy each other's company."
She then went on to add:
"My husband and I spend a lot of time together because, unlike so many couples, we've never had a 9-to-5 job where it's consistent. We're either on or we're off. I'm really working 16 hours a day, or I'm not. He's doing the same, or not. So we've had in our relationship huge amounts of time where we've been just us. We lived on the island of Bermuda for 12 years bringing up our kids. We respect each other's space, and our humor is just long-lasting."
Despite the age difference between the two, the couple has always emphasized their connection rather than their years.
