Chris Brown’s fans and Netizens were shocked to learn about his arrest at the early hours of Thursday, May 15, 2025, after landing in London. According to reports, the Don't Judge Me hitmaker was arrested at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester, England, in connection with a nightclub attack back in 2023.
As reported by several news outlets, Chris Brown’s arrest stems from a bottle attack that happened at Tape nightclub in Hanover Square, Mayfair, on February 19, 2023, where Brown is said to have allegedly assaulted music producer Abe Diaw.
Diaw alleges that Chris Brown attacked him unprovoked at the exclusive club, hitting him with a bottle on the head several times, punching and kicking him while he was down, leaving him hospitalized and on crutches.

As per London police reports, the 36-year-old R&B star was arrested shortly after 2:00 am on Thursday on suspicion of causing “grievous bodily harm” to Abe Diaw.
“A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm,” London police said. “He has been taken into custody, where he remains. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.”
Chris Brown’s arrest comes after Abe filed a $16 million lawsuit against him back in 2023. In the lawsuit, Abe accuses Chris of allegedly “beating him over the head” with a bottle of Don Julio 1994 and “ruthlessly” stomping on his head while he was down and kicking him at the back of his neck till he was unconscious for about 39 seconds.
He claims that the unprovoked assault from Chris “inflicted severe and lasting injuries,” some of which include “lacerations on his head and torn ligaments in his leg.” He also claimed that he suffered “serious and permanent emotional distress and trauma” following the attack.
“He hit me over the head two or three times. My knee collapsed as well,” he said.
Adding to that he had to seek treatment at a local hospital and had to rely on crutches to walk after he was discharged.
According to reports, the alleged assault happened during Chris’ time in the UK for his 2023 Under the Influence Tour.

Chris Brown’s arrest comes a few weeks before his Breezy Bowl XX tour, which will celebrate his 20th career anniversary. The tour is scheduled to have 9 shows in the UK. However, it is not known whether his arrest will affect the dates of the anniversary tour.
