Emmy-nominated actor Jonathan Bailey is being re-imagined as the iconic DCU superhero Batman by several fans. And we could not agree more!

DCU shall be locking in a new actor to play the role of the superhero in their upcoming project, Batman: The Brave and the Bold. That has piqued the audience's interest, especially fans who want Bailey to be cast as Bruce Wayne.

In the latest interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, when the English actor was asked about whether he would play the role, Bailey mentioned:

"I think James Gunn is amazing. Who knows."

Let's find out more about what Jonathan Bailey said about the idea of him playing Batman.

Jonathan Bailey has won our hearts with his beautiful performances in W1A, Jack Ryan, Bridgerton, Fellow Travellers, Wicked, and Jurassic World Rebirth, to name a few.

Fondly named as the Internet's boyfriend, Bailey has recently been recognized by People Magazine as the Sexiest Man Alive 2025. So, we have every reason to want to watch the actor embody the most iconic roles. One of those roles fans are eagerly waiting for him to portray is Batman.

While speaking to Jimmy Fallon at the show, when Fallon said about people wanting Bailey to be cast as the Protector of Gotham City, the Broadchurch actor playfully said:

"You could be my Robin."

And Jimmy Fallon enthusiastically responded:

"Yes! I would totally be Robin if you're Batman."

Then, when Jonathan Bailey was asked if he would play the role, he responded by saying:

“Would I do Batman? I grew up with Val Kilmer, George Clooney, obviously Christian Bale, and Robert Pattinson. It’s a legacy. I think James Gunn is amazing. Who knows. Who knows what the next Jimmy Fallon appearance- [breaks into laughter]"

To which Jimmy Fallon replied:

"Oh, yeah. Exactly. Every time you come, you have some amazing news."

Jonathan Bailey, in this conversation, refers to the powerful legacy carried by the portrayal of the DC superhero. He also discussed his association with the character, mentioning that he "grew up" with the older portrayals of the superhero, all the way to the most recent one. However, one thing is clear: there is absolutely no confirmation about Bailey wearing the cowl and cape in the near future.

Last year, in 2024, posts by fans envisioning the actor embodying the superhero were circulating on the internet. Interestingly, DCU's James Gunn had even liked one of the posts. A DCU fan account, named @Everything_DCU, also made a post on X about this.

The upcoming DCU film, The Brave and the Bold, shall be helmed by Andy Muschietti. In a report by Variety in September, this is what James Gunn mentioned about the collective enthusiasm among actors to play the role of the superhero:

“I think you’d have a harder time finding actors who don’t want to be Batman. He’s the one character everyone wants to play. That’s the truth.”

James Gunn shall be producing the film. It follows the journey of the superhero, along with his son Damian. The impetus of the film is Grant Morrison's 2006 comic 'Batman and Son'.

The original comic book, 'The Brave and the Bold,' was published from 1955 to 1983. Many characters, such as the Question, Green Lantern, Flash, and Green Arrow, appeared in the comics.
